St. George Lawn Bowling Club

Check out the pics from our recent Golf/Bowl Tournament. Top prizes went to Lyn C. and Tim J. who played their way around the course in top form. Mascot George made his bowling debut in a bowl-off, losing to Lyn in an exciting addition to the day.

It's a different lawn bowling season this year - none of the fabulous tournaments (last year we hosted ten) when we invite bowlers from other southern Ontario clubs for friendly competition. However, our tournament committee has set-up "in-house" tournaments - adapted to comply with COVID protocols - to keep our members in shape and enjoying the sport. Thanks to Sara Deebank, we have some photos from Saturday's Members' Tournament!

The greens are looking great, thanks to Tim Jones and his greens committee. St. George Lawn Bowling Club members are in pretty good shape too!

Phase 3!!! We still need to practice physical distancing, and only one bowler is allowed in the head at any given time. No rakes or measuring tapes. But we can have up to 16 bowlers on the green, play doubles - on alternate sheets, and keep score! (No scoreboards though - bowlers bring their own scorecards.) A volunteer monitor attends to all cleaning requirements, sets up teams, and determines placement on the green.

Members are following strict health regulations, as required by the Provincial and Municipal governments and County Health, but they are out on the greens, improving their skills and having a good time. We're going to be ready when tournament play is once again allowed!

Return To Play started in Phase 1 on Monday. Bowling sessions Mon, Wed, Fri and Sat at 10am and 7pm. You must register in advance to practice during these sessions. Huge thank you to our volunteer monitors who will provide guidance to keep us safe on the greens during the sessions.
