We are here for you. Through the lockdowns and changing rules of this rollercoaster ride. Through the ups and the downs of this pandemic. Through thick and thin, we are here. We are here for our students’ metal health, now more than EVER, because let’s face it - this is HARD. Our classes look different in a lot of ways but we are thankful that we can still operate. Whether that be with small in person classes or online ones. We are here for you. We are here to spread... the joy of musical theatre. Musical theatre isn’t just about acting on a big stage. It’s SO much more than that. For starters, It’s an all encompassing package that helps mental health. The performing arts helps us by allowing us to explore who we are in a safe space, showing us what we are capable of and how we can impact our world in a positive way. With every twist 2020 has brought us, we were able to cultivate and use our Creative Courage to figure out ways to save the arts. Online classes, online plays and even movies! We are here for you. 2020 has been very difficult (and that’s putting it lightly), but we mustn’t let the difficulty hinder our ability to help our students grow, learn and blossom into all that they can be. #savethearts #wearehereforyou

Something new Sunday! Do you know the difference between the BEAT and the RHYTHM? The beat is the steady pulse that is underlying the music throughout an entire song. The rhythm is a mix of different patterns overtop of the beat which create a melody or a percussion rhythm. The rhythm is made up of long or short notes. To practice feeling the difference, try stomping a BEAT and clapping different RHYTHMIC patterns overtop

Teacher Feature Katherine Barr is no stranger to the stage. Born in Hamilton, Katherine began singing at age nine with the Hamilton Children’s Choir. As a talented mezzo-soprano, she made her professional debut in 2019 performing Glasa with Opera in Concert’s staging of Káa Kabanová. Katherine studied performing arts at the University of Western Ontario and has been singing Opera with various companies in Toronto for the past three years. Katherine has spent the last fiv...e years teaching voice and piano with various local studios to students of all ages. A number of Katherine’s students have participated in festivals, concerts and exams in and around the Hamilton area such as the Hamilton Music Festival, London Music Festival, and Niagara Music Festival with first and second place awards.Katherine has a positive, energetic and empathetic teaching style. Her goal as a teacher is for her students to build confidence and learn new skills. Katherine is always encouraging educating students in the arts in her community. Scrollto see Katherine in action!
