Stainless Trap 19.12.2020

Status Update: Thank you to all the fishermen who helped test the prototypes this spring and provide feedback. We have been busy implementing the suggestions we received from the trials and are doing some further testing as we speak. Big changes are a much smaller mesh pattern on the bottom (prevent claws and tails from sticking out), reinforced edges (all 3/8 border now opposed to 1/4 diameter) so it can be tied in any orientation and receive much more abuse, larger head openings, and larger bedrooms. We just moved into a bigger shop last week and are getting geared up to have a hundred or two ready for the fall. We will have information on ordering available soon.

Distribution of our version 3 prototypes have begun! The new angle-iron features aim to improve stacking and shooting while drastically increasing overall durability and strength on every side of this patent pending trap. We are very grateful for all of the fishermen who are still able to help test these units given the unfortunate situation they are facing. As well, we would like to extend our best wishes to all captains, crews, and families in these uncertain times.

A huge thank you to everyone who has reached out so far! To help with the main question, we aren't certain on price yet as we are still in the prototype phase. However, initial estimates point to just marginally more than current options. We are still a small team as we move through testing but are trying to get a dozen or so ready for spring tags in D34. This will give us feedback to implement over the summer in time for a larger production run ready for the fall. The feedback and suggestions this week have already been very helpful. We will keep everyone up to date as testing and production progresses on this page. Thanks again.

Constructed out of 1/4" Stainless Steel round bar, the Stainless Trap features a rough and tough frame providing largely extended product lifespans. Wider mesh patterns save time processing catch on-board as unwanted ocean debris and small crustaceans can escape with ease. Ultimately, the rigid stainless steel construction enables a significant reduction in the amount of plastic entering our oceans.
