We are not always receiving COVID test results, even when patients have indicated their family doctor at the time of testing. Please call our office and let us know if you do test positive so we can help you. Please arrange a test through AHS if you have any of the symptoms. Even if it is only one of the symptoms. Even if it is mild. This can help stop the spread by isolating contacts who may not yet have symptoms but could spread it unknowingly to someone who could have a... very severe outcome. Be careful. If you do need to go out keep 6ft from others, wear your mask and hand sanitize frequently. Please don’t ignore your health and avoid seeking care for fear of being exposed to COVID. We can provide care virtually or see you in person if necessary by following all safety precautions.
Please consider completing this survey from one of our community partners, as they are working hard to improve supports and services for seniors in our community.
A reminder for all our patients. This is true of all medical offices right now. If you are expecting a call, please answer of it says blocked number or No number. Some phones automatically block these calls so please ensure to disable this function in your phone’s settings.

This is a really good website to learn more about the cancers we can screen for-breast, cervical and colorectal. The hope is to identify things early or even at a precancerous stage to help people live cancer free for longer. Lots of information on risk factors, risk calculators and what you can do to reduce your risk. Talk to your family doctor if you realize you are due for screening. https://screeningforlife.ca
We recommend signing up for https://myhealth.alberta.ca/myhealthrecords. This will give you access to your results for most common lab tests including COVID 19 swab results. Results are posted to this platform quickly. Signing up is a two step process. You will need your AB health care number and your driver's licence for the first step. After doing step one you will be sent a code in the mail to complete the second step. **please note this is different to Health Myself. We recommend signing up for that too . Health Myself is through our clinic and allows you to book online and email non urgent questions. Please contact our office to arrange this.

As doctors in Alberta, weve seen the impacts of COVID-19 firsthand. Weve also seen how one of our peers, Dr. Deena Hinshaw, has inspired Albertans of all ages with her wisdom and compassion. Our goals are to raise funds for people in-need affected by COVID-19, to raise awareness about the importance of social distancing and self-isolation, and to continue to show our sons and daughters that intellectual women can be superheroes too. We all need role models, and Dr. Hinsaw... has become one of ours. The Organizations All funds raised after production costs will be donated to the Womens Emergency Accommodation Center and the Pregnancy Pathways (links in comments). The Artists A massive thanks goes out to Stephanie Simpson and Mandy Stobo who created the beautiful artworks found on these shirts and allowed us to use their designs for this important fundraiser. (links in comments). This is a limited print shop - only available until April 19 and then the shirts will be made and ready to ship (or be picked up in Edmonton) in early to mid May. Please share this initiative widely. https://hinshaw.printmachine.ca/doctors_for_dr_hinsh//home

What is the difference between social distancing and self isolating?
Dear patients of St. Albert Medical Clinic, Please do not sign up for the new Telus Babylon App. Your Family Doctor is accepting phone consultations for yourself and any of our patients that are self-isolating or those that are more vulnerable. ... Please continue to use your family physician for your medical care. Contiuity with your family physician has evidence that saves lives. This TELUS Health App is a poor choice for patients with a regular family physicians. The Telus Physician App undermines your Patient Medical Home and the relationship with your family physician. We want to keep looking after you and your medical care through out this pandemic. While it always your choice to use any provider for your healthcare, your family physicians are working very hard to provide excellence and availability even by phone. We are here for you, St. Albert Medical Clinic
The Government of Canada has changed and expanded EI eligibility for people who have to self isolate due to COVID19. Employers do not need a note if you are directed to self isolate. Self isolation if you have new symptoms or have returned from travel outside of Canada is absolutely critical to help our country fight this effectively. https://www.canada.ca///corporate/notices/coronavirus.html
We at St. Albert Medical Clinic understand that our patients have a lot of questions about COVID-19 and the impact on their care. We are working diligently to ensure our patients are still getting top-quality healthcare in a safe-fashion. We would like to remind all of our patients that if you have a cough, cold, fever or symptoms of concern, we'd like to direct you to contact 811 or the AH self-assessment online tool found here https://myhealth.alberta.ca//Pa/COVID-Self-A...ssessment.aspx If you have any reasons you feel you cannot attend your appointment (recent travel outside of Canada or any of the above symptoms) please contact our office to reschedule and our physicians will do their best to manage your care remotely if required. Do your part to help prevent the spread. If you any symptoms you should self-isolate yourself. Continue to the website from Alberta Health - COVID19 for updates.
All Albertans should now self isolate when they return from travel anywhere outside of Canada regardless of whether symptoms are present. Travel is not banned (yet) but any non essential travel should be cancelled. Please see AHS.ca/COVID19 updated information. This is rapidly evolving. This is not "just a cold". It is much more serious. 811 is arranging testing for people that have symptoms and risk factors such as travel or contact with patient infected. Please be patient. The wait may be 2h and there are reports of people needing to redial multiple times. AHS is doing their best to address this so please be patient. We have one of the best public health systems in the world. We 100% trust these specialists to not cause any unnecessary restrictions. Please take this very seriously.
As we approach March Break, much of the medical community is very concerned about there being a big spike in Coronavirus in our Country. Please take this virus very seriously and consider staying in Canada for March Break. Travel outside of Canada may result in your family being required to self-quarantine in your home for two weeks upon return. For now, please ensure you are washing your hands, staying home if you have any cough or fever after travel (by yourself or your c...lose contacts) outside Canada in last 2 weeks and please call 811 to be directed to a testing site if appropriate. Please refer to Alberta Health Services updates here: https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/topics/Page16944.aspx
