No skating this Wednesday November 11th. Take a moment to remember and appreciate those who have protected and those who are continuing to protect us today. Thank you, we are beyond thankful for your service and our freedom that you have fought for. Lest we forget.
St. Albert Skating Centre was represented by a talented team of skaters at the 2021 Sectionals Championship. Dedication, Desire and Determination was evident in all the performances from our skaters! We are so proud of you all! Sydney Biensch, coached by Karen Brown, debuted two new programs to capture the Silver Medal in Senior Ladies. Sydney has been working on her triple jumps and refining her choreography to improve her scores. Alisha McCann, coached by Don Cowan, not on...ly works on her own skating but is a Canskate Coach and inspiration to SASC’s younger skaters. Alisha brought home the Bronze Medal in Senior Ladies. This year Pre-Novice Ladies were in a large group of 51 skaters from across the Province and Territories. SASC was represented by Felicia Holterman who placed 19th, Anna Shaw placed 28th, Emma MacDonald placed 35th, Sadie Henderson placed 42nd and Lauren O’Halloran placed 45th. It looks to be a promising future for our Pre-Novice skaters! In Novice Ladies, Tehya Wiltzen was unfortunately withdrawn due to illness. Nevertheless, Teyha is still training hard and preparing for the next competition to represent SASC. Thank you to the Alberta-NWT/Nunavut Section, Officials, Alberta Figure Skating Foundation, Host Club Okotoks Skating Club, Grey Eagle Resort & Casino and Seven Chiefs Sportsplex for hosting this event. It was an extremely well run and safe competition. Sectionals Championships is truly a great opportunity for all the skaters!
SASC Director and Coach, Don looked spooktacular in his Halloween costume yesterday at 2021 Sectional Championships!
Congratulations to our Senior Women! Sydney placed Second overall and Alisha placed Third overall at 2021 Sectional Championships! We are so proud of you! This is an amazing accomplishment for you both. Congratulations Sydney and Alisha!
Happy Halloween from your SASC family! Everyone’s costumes looked wonderful this week! Have a fun and safe halloween!
