Each year, YourAlberta (Government of Alberta) recognizes November as Family Violence Prevention Month. Every day, we are called upon to support our community,... connecting individuals and families to life-saving resources. Through the provision of essential services and supports to individuals and families impacted by family violence and our ongoing efforts to break down barriers through public education about family violence, we continue our work to create communities that do not tolerate domestic violence and bring safety and hope to vulnerable individuals and families. On November 27th, we are calling on our communities to support us by wearing purple. (Go Purple Day- Sturgeon Region) The colour purple, signified by a purple ribbon, has been widely adopted as the unifying symbol of courage, survival, honor, and dedication to ending family violence.
