This is a movement we can get behind! "A growing movement of gardeners, food activists, landscape designers, urban planners and others is encouraging us to think edible when it comes to public green space. Flowers are pretty, they say, but if those blossoms become apples or zucchini, isn’t that even better?"

Gardens can change the world
Don't often see green sweat bees in our garden, but they must love our echinacea as there were a ton of them flitting about this evening. A little tricky to get photos, they don't sit still for long!

Squash bug nymphs found on a squash leaf earlier this evening. If you find a squash, zucchini or cucumber leaf that looks brown and dying, carefully cut it off the plant and take it away from your plot so as not to spread whatever the plant is suffering from to your other crops. It's a great idea to always bring a plastic bag with you to remove any diseased or infested plant material away from the garden; jerks like this one will make their homes in your soil so they can come visiting again next year.
Donate your extra harvest and support us in stopping hunger in our Community through our already stretched Ajax charities during this difficult year. If you are unable to harvest, we can help

One of our residents seems to be enjoying Melanie's beans very much!
You may have noticed a long green bag hanging from the member's shed, south side. It's a pheremone-based trap for Japanese Beetles, and there is also a second trap located about halfway down our southern border. These were put up less than 48 hours ago, and as you can see they are definitely doing their job!
