On November 11, at the going down of the sun, communities across Canada will mark the 100th anniversary of the end of the First World War with the ringing of 100 bells. The ringing of bells emulates the moment in 1918 when church bells across Europe tolled as four years of war had come to an end. The Bells of Peace is an initiative to honour Canadas Veterans and commemorate the end of the First World War. We will be ringing St. Andrews bells 100 times at 5:30 p.m. on Sunday..., November 11, 2018. When you hear the bells toll on November 11, take a moment to pause and remember all those who served and sacrificed. WE WILL REMEMBER THEM

Canadian Corps WW1 in Story & Song: The Bunker Military Museum of Cobalt is producing a commemorative concert about the Canadian Corps in WW1 at the Cobalt Classic Theatre at 7:30 on November 2. Admission is $20.00. Tickets are available at Chat Noir, Temiskaming Speaker & the Bunker Military Museum. The concert will give a narrative of the Corps, from its humble beginning in 1914 to the end of the war, when it is the most potent Corps on the western front. The narrati...ve is punctuated with WW1 songs sung by guest soloists and the Overtones. The show is an overview of the growth, tactics and organization of the Corps. It highlights Canadian innovations, interesting facts, and its officers and men. The battles at the end of WW1, often called Canadas 100 days, are recounted as the Canadian Corps spearheads the British 1st army to victory. This period has been called Canadas greatest contribution on the world stage. On the 100th anniversary of these battles, it is important to look back and remember the sacrifices of these men and the 66,000 Canadians who paid the ultimate price in WW1. See more
