Dear Parents and Guardians, As many of you are already aware, Premier Jason Kenney announced yesterday that K-12 students will return to school in person on Monday January 11th. While we are looking forward to welcoming students back to school, we want to remind our school communities to remain committed to following public health guidelines from Alberta Health Services: - We remind families to monitor for any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 using the Alberta Health Screening Q...uestionnaire. If you or a member of your family has any of the symptoms of illness listed, please fill out the online Alberta Health Services COVID-19 self-assessment or call Health Link at 811. - If your child is sick, they must stay home. We encourage parents to review the Top 5 Symptoms Flowchart and Secondary Symptoms Flowchart provided by Alberta Health Services that will provide guidance about what to do when your child has symptoms or is a close contact to a positive case. If your child is isolating at home, their teacher will provide assignments that can be completed at home. - If your child is a close contact of a positive case, they cannot go to school for 14 days after their last close contact with the positive case. We recommend reviewing the guidance in the Close Contact Flowchart, having your child tested and following all isolation requirements from Alberta Health Services. Students who are isolating will receive assignments from their teacher that can be completed at home. - Lastly, a friendly reminder to please ensure your child is dressed appropriately for winter conditions. We thank you for your continued commitment to keeping our school communities safe. We are grateful to all families for their patience and cooperation throughout the ever-evolving COVID environment. This school year has been different for all of us, and I am proud of the resilience shown by our students and staff. Yours in Christ, Betty Turpin Superintendent https://hfcrd.ab.ca//students-return-to-school-in-person-/

Hello Students and Parents, I hope that you are well. I am sharing with you key changes to our school in the area of food services in order to align our school practices with government of Alberta guidelines.... Our school will see significant changes in the area of food. As we begin the year, the only source of food will be from student homes. Please be advised: - Parents and guardians will be asked to have student food provided in clean containers with their own utensils. Students are encouraged to use a personal and refillable water bottle - Lunches cannot be dropped off during the school day. - Microwaves have been removed from classrooms and foyers. Students will not have access to microwaves. We encourage students to bring warm food in soup thermoses. - Wrapped or bagged snacks may be available to students in classrooms at a later date if supported by the Breakfast Clubs of Canada and/or the Breakfast for Learning organizations. Yvonnes Kitchen, our cafeteria service provider has a survey for parents to determine interest in having a pre-ordered and prepaid service in place for hot meals from grades 7 to 12. Should there be enough capacity the cafeteria may offer hot meals in the elementary grades. Each day will feature one meal. If there is little interest in a cafeteria service, the cafeteria may be closed. If you are interested in having a cafeteria service from grades 7-12 please complete this survey (link: https://forms.gle/ArbBw7sb7MsENxkm6) by 4:00pm on Tuesday September 8th. For more information, please review this document carefully: https://docs.google.com//1fMPe6ZAArx4Ss5x4Uni-t5guJB/edit. It contains more detailed information on food services. Take care, Marc Lamoureux Principal of St. Andrews School

Hello Students, Parents, and Guardians, I hope that you are well. I am sharing with you key changes to our school in the area of re-entry in order to align our school practices with government of Alberta guidelines.... St. Andrews School start date is Tuesday September 8th at 8:15am for our first students. Our school year will open with a staggered entry. This means that only 5 grades (10 homeroom classes) will be in the school per day for the first 3 days. Friday, September 11th will see all students attending, in person, at the school. Our ECS teachers will call parents on September 3rd and 4th to set 1 hour long appointments for a parent or guardian to join their child for an orientation to their new school during the following week. Please review the three documents attached to this post carefully. They are: Staggered Re-Entry Schedule: https://drive.google.com//1miHpG0A_fmthkip1rQhGAidco/view Map of school entries designated for each grade: https://drive.google.com//1tTSK5HwL2zjNGUsAEmyGsxXMM/view Daily Health Screening tool provided by the government of Alberta: https://drive.google.com//1NC1wUBb0nWaVwpKSjFHQn5DIH/view Thank you to all parents for making a difficult choice of At Home or In Person learning with all the uncertainty we all face. Our school will be adjusting our staff and resources to support our students to the best of our ability. Students will remain in their chosen program until the specified dates in November. Information on our At Home program start date will be provided later this week. Thank you to all parents who responded to our registration survey. If you have not responded by 4:00pm tomorrow (Wednesday September 1st), we will assume that you are choosing the in person at school learning option for your child. After tomorrow at 4:00pm, all learning format change requests will be handled on a case by case basis. Take care, Marc Lamoureux Principal of St. Andrews School

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff of St. Andrews School, Welcome to a new school year! I hope that you have had a positive and restful summer. I have had a productive summer completing building and maintenance projects on rainy days and have spent some time at the lake on the nicer ones. Time in the outdoors has been a blessing. Thank you to all of you that have shared thoughts and ideas with me over the summer. I see that there is a wide range of perspectives on Covid-19 ...and how we are addressing it as a community and a province. In these conversations, I have found that we all share common ground on the idea that we wish to avoid our families and our friends contracting Covid. As we embark on this school year, we all have concerns and we all face the unknown. This makes us apprehensive and I believe that we are most concerned for our youth and for those at greater risk. Moving forward, I see the need for everyone to work as a community to make our days as safe as possible. There will be continuing change in our school and community as we work hand in hand in our capacity to create safe environments and as new learning models evolve. We will need to communicate clearly, calmly, and in a caring manner to support each others work . We will no doubt come across many unexpected situations that will require us to work positively and flexibly to improve safety and learning. Over the summer, we have worked to understand our new playing field for the coming months and have begun making changes to our school and how it will operate. We will share a working St. Andrews specific Re-launch document in the coming days with you on our school web page and via e-mail as a reference for the many changes that will be taking place in our school. Until then, we invite you to read a list of key points from the relaunch plan. Other information will also be sent out in the coming days. Holy Family Catholic Regional Division classes will begin with a staggered entry as of September 8th. St. Andrews School Re-Launch Key Points: https://docs.google.com//1QS0WPQc-O_LZ6AiT4oHZEJgPqZ/edit As the school year gets underway we will work to continually improve our practices to the best of our ability. I look forward to our conversations and our joint cooperation this year. Let us be humble, caring, and kind in our days. I am hoping that our days will be filled with smiles and be punctuated by laughter. God bless and hold us all, Marc Lamoureux Principal, St. Andrews School
