In the early 90’s the Homestead Paint company, the parent company of Fusion had a premixed linseed oil base product that was popular with manufacturers and d.i.y’ers in creating heritage and colonial style furniture. We have in fact a can with the colour coal black and also barn red.The old red barns you see in the countryside are mostly painted in milk paint. Yes, it is a powder today and you mix only what you need. If you want a chippy look on a piece then you can achieve that easily. If you paint it on a raw piece of wood the milk paint will become one with the wood and will not chip or flake. You do not need to prep the raw wood beforehand. If you paint it on a glossy piece then you would mix Fusion Mineral Paint’s Ultra Grip into the milk paint and paint your piece IF you don’t want the chippy look. The paint will not come off.
