Bridge construction will start in October 2020 on Gartly Road just East of the Village of Munson. Gartly Road (TR 30-2) will be closed from Hwy 9 to RR 20-2. The Starland County Administration Office is now open to the public in its new location of 217 Railway Avenue North in Morrin. Please note that we are following the Covid-19 recommended protocols, so please do not attend our office if you have any signs of Covid-19 related symptoms; upon entering please use the hand sanitizer available; and please social distance behind our sneeze guard areas at the front reception area. News Release Provincial Government Oil and Gas Assessment Changes Starland County has recently been notified by the Provincial Government of proposed changes to the way property taxes are collected on the oil and gas industry. Under current tax rates, the new system proposed by the province would result in a loss of between $2.6 million and $3.75 million for Starland County. Please be advised that all Starland County offices will be closed from August 4 to August 7, 2020 as we will be moving to our new location. We will be accessible by email, but responses will be delayed. The main telephone and fax lines will be unavailable. For any emergencies, please telephone Stettler Answering Service at (403) 740-8011. Normal hours of operation will resume on Monday, August 10, 2020 at 8:00am at our new location located at 217 Railway Avenue North in Morrin.
Starland County Campgrounds will be open as of June 19th, 2020 with limited amenities. These campgrounds are Starland Recreation Area, Michichi Dam Recreation Area and McLaren Dam. Please note that not all amenities will be available. Please be prepared to have your own firewood, hand sanitizer and toilet paper. Camp Kitchen areas will remain closed.... The Shower house/washrooms will remain closed at the Michichi Recreation Area. Campgrounds will remain first-come first-serve. For more information on our campgrounds, please check our website. http://www.starlandcounty.com//starland-public-campgrounds/ Also, the Province of Alberta has announced that they will be re-opening Tolman Bridge and Bleriot Ferry campgrounds for this camping season only. The re-open is planned for June 29th. Please check Alberta Parks website for any updates on those campgrounds.
