Childcare is Essential is a new FB Page for Manitoba families, educators, and those who are supportive of the ELCC field! It’s something close to my heart, so please take a moment to check it out! And if you agree that we need to keep our child care field publicly funded give it a like! You can also support by sharing a story through this link; it’s for families who want to post a story about their experiences with child care, such as why they’ve valued it in their child’s li...fe, or why it’s important to them! Share your story! We are a group of parents, childcare providers and supporters who want to see high quality public childcare supported and expanded in Manitoba. Join our campaign by telling others about what childcare provider have meant to you and your children -- now or in the past. How does quality childcare facilitate and enhance your family's life? If you are a childcare provider, you can talk about what the job and the children in your charge mean to you! If you have questions or feedback about this survey, you can email [email protected].

The early learning and child care sector needs help. Centres are operating at a loss right now, both the ones who have opened for Frontline Healthcare and Essen...tial Service Workers and those who remain closed - because of the loss in daily parent fees. No funds have been given to make up this crucial component of our revenue streams. And as nonprofits we have no rainy day funds to save us. Pallister’s decisions so far are putting us at risk of losing our nonprofit child care sector. You should know: that for every $1 invested in early learning and child care, you get between $1.37-$1.58 return in economic development. It just makes economic sense to ensure funds are given to the early learning and child care sector to ensure that centres are not lost permanently due to COVID-19. If you don’t want to look at the social services and educational value of our sector, maybe the economic value will help you see the rationale to protect our child care centres and home child care providers so they too can bounce back.
