Hey everyone! This is Emily. Emily started with Start Me Up Niagara two months ago. She is another one of our team members that works in the background to keep SMUN running. She’s our Fundraising Coordinator focusing on events, raising funds for programming, organizing donations and overseeing programs such as The Shoebox Project and The Purse Project Network, among others. When asked what it is like working for Start Me Up, Emily had this to say, Working at SMUN has been a ...very eye opening opportunity for me. I have already learned so much from the fellow staff, volunteers and participants. The invaluable experience and knowledge gained in this short time working for SMUN has greatly affected me and will for years to come. It is a challenging role during times of COVID-19 but it gives me the chance to be creative with our upcoming fundraising events and initiatives. The pandemic has really required our organization rethink how services are delivered and how we prepare for activities and events, but Emily is optimistic as she prepares for this CNOY event. COVID has strongly affected all events we host here at SMUN, The Harvest Festival and monthly pasta dinners were cancelled this year which was a major loss for our organization. Thankfully, CNOY is operating this year, but of course it will be different than our usual walk with new safety protocols in place. Visit our website at smun.ca to sign up a team and fundraise with us!

Start Me Up Niagara is eternally grateful for the incredible #generosity of Shelley and Jim from the Purse Project Network. Today, these two amazing souls dropped off over two dozen purses filled with essentials for #women experiencing #poverty in our community. These purses contain socks, hats, hygiene supplies, deodorant, and hand sanitizer among many other critical items for our female-identifying participants. The spirit of #compassion and #kindness endures during these tough times. #PurseProjectNetwork #OurHomeSTC #CommunityKindness #donationshelp #thankyou
