MEET YOUR THERAPIST | SURB ATWAL . Surb completed her Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy in 1992 at the University of British Columbia. . Surb has a passion for stroke, brain injury and concussion management. Surb also works at Surrey Memorial Hospital on the acute stroke and brain Injury unit. Her experience in acute care, inpatient and outpatient neurological programs, arthritis, orthopedics, special care nursery, extended care and COPD clinic has allowed her to b...e an asset to our team. At Surrey Memorial, Surb was instrumental in her development of various initiatives and programs including both inpatient and outpatient neurology programs, the outpatient arthritis program, the OT role in Geriatrics, COPD and NICU. Surb received her NDT ( Neurodevelopmental treatment) certification in 2015 and has advanced practice knowledge and expertise in the areas of cognition, perception, visual process training, neuro electrical stimulation, serial casting, high and low temperature splinting, orthotic fabrication, specialized seating and swallowing. She has taught and mentored throughout the Fraser Health Authority and is currently a Clinical Instructor for the Faculty of Medicine and School of Occupational Therapy at UBC. . Outside of work, she is a very active hockey and soccer mom, raising 4 kids with her husband. She loves her dog Neo. . Surb offers services in both English and Punjabi. . MEET YOUR THERAPIST | SATVIR HUNDAL . Satvir has a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Simon Fraser University. She worked for a year as a Kinesiologist before beginning her Masters of Physiotherapy at the University of British Columbia. Satvir plans to pursue more orthopaedic levels and courses related to Women’s Health. Satvir just returned from New York where she worked as a physical therapist in a hospital and private clinic for two years before bringing her skills ba...ck home to Canada. . Satvir’s passion for Physiotherapy started when she worked as a Physiotherapy aid through the co-operative education program at SFU in a school working with children with learning disabilities or special needs. This experience left her wanting to continue helping clients of all ages to be as physically active as possible. She loves being able to help assist clients meet their treatment goals through the application of manual techniques, exercise prescription and education. . In her spare time, Satvir enjoys going on walks with her dog, hiking with her friends and travelling with her husband whenever she gets a chance. . Satvir is fluent in both English and Punjabi. .
