Our hygiene and cleaning appointments have recently reopened! Along with a few service changes, so as to be in-line with new safeguards and regulations. We have begun calling back all previously scheduled patients in order of cancellation from the past 4 months. We appreciate your patience and understanding throughout our reopening stages!

We have recently reopened our office! While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our office's commitment to your safety. Infection control has always been a top priority in our practice. We follow the recommendations and guidelines made by the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario (RCDSO). You may now call the office at your convenience to book or rebook your appointment with one of our qualified dentists (hygiene and cleaning appointments are curr...ently still cancelled and closed until further notice). We ask that you please be patient and understand that we will do our best to accommodate your scheduling needs as we know many of you are anxious to get back into our office. During this time, we have implemented additional safety precautions to help protect our patients and staff. Upon scheduling an appointment, some COVID-19 screening questions will be asked over the phone. We will postpone treatment for any patient who has experienced or been in contact with someone who has had symptoms within 14 days of the scheduled appointment date. If you are over the age of 65 or have preexisting health conditions such as diabetes, chronic lung disease or asthma, serious heart conditions, are immunocompromised, or have chronic kidney or liver disease, we recommend you do not visit the office at this time. We will be scheduling appointments in a manner that promotes social distancing and allows for adequate time for us to disinfect all areas of use in between patient appointments. Upon arrival at our office, please call us before entering the office to let us know you have arrived. We will call or text you once the office is ready for you to enter. We ask that patients enter the office unaccompanied, if possible. Every person entering the office is expected to wear a face covering and will be asked to wash their hands immediately upon entry. Each patient will also be expected to fill out a brief screening form upon arrival. Our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children's toys, and so forth, since these items are difficult to sanitize and disinfect. Clear plastic screens (sneeze guards) have been installed at the front desk to minimize exposure to airborne pathogens. Thank you for being a part of our family dental practice. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbours, and friends!

As per the RCDSO, we have reopened with a few service changes! All regular dental treatment can proceed, however all hygiene and cleaning appointments will continue to stay cancelled and closed. We are COVID-19 compliant, so please pay attention to all posted signs when entering the office! Thank you. We look forward to seeing all your smiling faces again soon!!

Happy New Year! We’re confident that 2020 will bring a fresh perspective for all as things come into focus. (Yes, we’ve expanded from dentistry puns to optometry puns in honour of the new year.)

There are a few things you can do to get some temporary relief for a toothache. 1) Try rinsing with warm salt water. If this makes it worse, try rinsing with cold water. Depending on the problem, cold water might feel better than warm water. 2) Floss around the problem tooth, as there may be food stuck. Remember to be gentle and not to force the floss between the teeth. 3) Take an over-the-counter pain reliever, as directed. Do not place aspirin directly on the gum or too...th. 4) Rub an over-the-counter antiseptic containing benzocaine or clove oil onto the affected tooth and gum to numb the pain. 5) Place a cold compress on the outside of your cheek. Most importantly, give us a call at your earliest convenience. We’ll take a look at that tooth and let you know what’s wrong.

Carrots are a great snack for teeth. Their natural crunch helps produce saliva, which can wash away bacteria. Plus, carrots are loaded with vitamin A and keratin to help build enamel and keep gums healthy. So be sure to pack carrots in your lunch bag for a quick, healthy option.

We’re often asked about the difference between clear aligners and metal braces for straightening teeth. Clear aligners are worn over the teeth to gently adjust the teeth. Patients switch to a new set of aligners every week or two. Clear aligners are invisible, so most people won’t ever notice them. Because they are removable, you can take clear aligners out to eat and brush, and then pop the aligners back in. They do need to be worn about 23 hours a day, so make sure to put ...them back in when you’re done eating. Traditional braces are placed directly onto the teeth using metal or ceramic brackets. Wires and tiny rubber bands are used to move the teeth gently into place. There are lots of options with traditional braces as they can be placed in different ways either behind or in front of the teeth. There is even a wide array of rubber band colours to choose from. Book a consultation with us and we’ll help you make the decision that’s best for you or your teen.

We offer dental implants as a long-term solution for missing teeth. A dental implant is a titanium screw placed in the bone to act as an artificial tooth root. An implant needs to be surrounded by healthy gum and bone to be successful. Book a consultation. We’ll identify any issues and together we can make a plan that works for you.

Do you see frayed bristles on your toothbrush? That means it’s time to pick up a new one! If it’s been less than three months since your last new toothbrush, frayed bristles may also indicate that you’re brushing too hard! Brushing with too hard a brush, or brushing too much force can cause tooth wear, gum recession, and sensitive teeth due to exposed roots. Be sure to choose a soft-bristled toothbrush and focus on using gentle circular movements to help protect your tooth enamel and gums when you’re brushing.

Accidents happen. The most important thing to remember when someone has broken a tooth is not to panic. First, take a look around for the tooth. If it’s an adult tooth, and it’s clean and whole, place it back in the empty socket. If you can’t place it back in the mouth, keep the missing tooth moist by packing it in milk or saliva. If it’s a baby tooth, bring it along to the dental office just in case we need to see it. Next call us! Let us know what happened and we’ll get you in as soon as we can. If for some reason you can’t get through to us, then head to the emergency room and call us for a follow-up appointment.
