Home | Nova Scotia Native Women's Association (nsnwa.ca) Throughout this 39 month project, the Nova Scotia Native Women’s Association will develop and implement intervention practices that will advance knowledge and enhance empowerment supports for at-risk populations and survivors of human trafficking in Nova Scotia. These practices will be created and delivered in a culturally relevant manner, utilizing Mi’kmaw language and methods as the foundation. The project will specifically create a Nova Scotia Indigenous Trafficking Prevention Advisory Committee. The Committee’s mandate will be to create and implement prevention program activities to support and provide meaningful services to individuals currently involved in human trafficking, as well as survivors. Educational workshops will be developed for at-risk populations and outside organizations, to prevent and limit the risk of Indigenous peoples becoming targets of human trafficking and create a comprehensive circle of support for organizations and individuals to address this human trafficking. Quote from Lenore Zann, MP: Congratulations to Karen Pictou and the team at NSNWA on securing this funding for this very important programming and service!
