In striving to continue our ministry during the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been diligently working to create and share weekly virtual choir videos. Our hope is ...that our songs and reflections will serve as an aid for prayer. This week we hope that listening to and reflecting on the lyrics of "Love Is His Word" will provide comfort and peace during this time of uncertainty. Click here to sign up: http://eepurl.com/hds731 "Richer than gold is the love of my Lord" is one line that I find especially important in this week's song "Love is His Word." It is easy sometimes to get caught up in daily life, just going through the motions, so much so that we forget that we have God's love with us at all times. This week's Gospel tells of two sons. One son refuses his father's work orders but does his work anyways, the other son agrees to work but ends up not doing the work. Jesus tells us that those who do God's bidding are the most righteous, even if they are not seen that way in society. God does not only love those who agree to work for him, but he loves us all. In a time where human interaction is at an all time low it is hard to feel the same connectedness to one another. Knowing that God's love is for every person, no matter their social status, is a great reminder that we are all joined in this way. This year has been challenging for everyone, it is easy to see only the negativity in the world and feel hopeless. However, through my friends, family and singing I am reminded of how rich in splendor and grace God's love is. - Ellie Lynch, Class of 2022 Video by Nicholas Righi, ‘21

Dear Friends and Parishioners of St. Augustine's, In the past few weeks many of you will have received a letter for the Heritage project. We are humbled and so very proud of the results so far. We thank you for your generous donations. We felt it important to mention that pledging is just one part of our fundraising strategy.... Our next step is to hold a fundraising brainstorm session in October to get as many ideas out as possible. From these ideas we will pick a few to implement. One guiding principle that we hold for these fundraisers is to look to the wider community for support and not just to our parishioners. The present pandemic does present its challenges but we are ready to take this on. We have created a Go Fund Me page where external donors can support our cause and we are already starting to see revenues. We look forward to collaborating closely with the Women's Guild as they are the voice of experience in our Parish when it comes to fundraising. We will provide regular updates of our progress in the bulletin. At the end of the day we also need to raise visibility for our church in St Bruno and beyond so this too will be part of the fundraising plan. Fundraising is easier when you are better known so publicity for our church is important. I hope that you have a better idea of our strategy; if you would like more information on the Heritage project or our fundraising strategy please feel free to contact either myself or the wardens. Blessings on your path, Susan Leclair Heritage Project Fundraising https://www.gofundme.com/f/st-augustine-heritage-project

This morning’s Mass.

***IMPORTANT *** Please see below the latest communique that we received last night from our Diocese. Prior to receiving this notice, we had completed our registrations this week for "coming to Mass" for the weekend Masses of September 26 & 27 with a total of 50 parishioners as a maximum which was the amount allowed by the Government as of this morning. ... With the sudden change yesterday to 25 parishioners allowed per Mass, we were now over the limit in 4 of our parishes. Therefore, our dedicated volunteers called a certain number of registered parishioners and asked them to rebook for the following weekend so that we could respect the new numbers and be safe. We continue to respect all protocols in our churches and will remain open for Mass with a reduced number of 25, until further notice from the Government. We thank both our volunteers for their time and our parishioners for their understanding. Please be assured that we are continuing to offer the Sunday Mass on FaceBook Live, the SWAY and on ZOOM for those who cannot be present in our churches. ORANGE ZONE: GATHERING OF 25 PEOPLE The Ministre de la santé du Québec has placed the greater Montreal area in the Orange Zone for Covid-19. This includes many MRC in Montérégie, and therefore almost the entire territory of our diocese. From now on, any gathering in a place of worship or any other premises of all Anglophone parishes of the St. John Paul II Pastoral Unit is limited to 25 people with a distance of 2 meters. If there are already events planned for Saturday and Sunday September 26 and 27, it is up to parish leaders to judge the application of this measure.

Heritage Capsule # 2 An excerpt from an article by Stan Machnik - St Augustine’s Parish and Spirit column in A Living Church newspaper - May 1979 ''Perhaps the most significant series of events in our history was the manner in which we organized under the guidance of that enduring Franciscan, Father Francis Sullivan, and faced the question of what we wanted as a church building with presbytery, sacristy, and hall. During the years that we worshipped in the Don Bosco school ha...ll, we frequently had occasion to discuss what to build. Then as the time for decision approached, the parish as a whole participated in a series of carefully organized deliberations led by the wardens, especially Rudy Volk. We especially wanted traditional motifs translated into present day forms. We wanted organic materials. The concept is Franciscan in its simplicity but suggesting cloister and court yard, subdued in art while highlighting the altar, to suggest an archaic altar or sacrifice become communal table commemorative of the Christian past. We wanted space suffused with light: a holy place. To come alive especially with the presence of people to each other.'' Blessings, The Wardens

DEDICATION OF OUR CHURCH HALL On Saturday September 12th, family and friends gathered for the dedication of our church hall in honour of Olga McCormack. Olga has worked tirelessly for over 50 years in service of St. Augustine Parish and it was important to recognize this achievement in a special way. Dedication prayers and special words from Father Manus and Bishop Claude made the occasion even more special. Thanks to Sylvain for emceeing and Irene for the cupcakes. Thank you Joe, Ellen and Michel for your wonderful memories of Olga. And finally thanks Eileen and Deirdre for sharing your own special memories of your mom and growing up in our St. Augustine community. Our hall is officially the Olga McCormack Hall.

Heritage Day Open House Thanks to everyone who came out today for a tour of St. Augustine’s. We were thrilled that more than 60 people walked through our doors for our first Heritage Day Open House. We welcomed parishioners from St. Augustine’s and from other parishes in our Pastoral Unit. We also welcomed local residents and visitors from outside our region. They all learned about our magnificent and unique church. Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the Open House a success and we hope to repeat the event next year. We have left all the displays in place.
