This image makes me feel nostalgic, yearning for long walks, unfettered time, the ability to just go. Train tracks remind me of childhood summers visiting the f...arm where my grandmother grew up and the many small prairie towns my dad had lived as a boy. Today the rain feels colder and grey sky heavy, flooding my body like a tension. And I know, as all moments do, this will pass. I look forward to a long walk in the sunshine, to long hugs with friends, to shared meals and strangers' smiling faces. It will happen as surely as the train will come. I can hear the whistle in the distance. , , .. . Message up to 1/2 hour before we begin for video or dial-in connection info.

100 is a round number, a coming together. The zeroes following that simple 1 make it significant.... Mathematically 100 is 10 tens .... that tell us that each step comes together and creates something more .... Collectively every drop fills an ocean or a river. Every moment creates a life .... Every person creates the circle .... 100 means that you started 99 ago and kept going. It marks a journey, it doesn’t end a journey, but marks one .... .... .... 100 is like the hummingbird that persevered through a flight that seemed impossible on every level. And then hovers over the flower another impossibility and drinks sweet nectar. 100 is a celebration .... .... And so we celebrate the coming together, the circle .... .... .... .... .... We are the celebration .... Each moment marks 100 something .... 100 breaths since the last 100 100 steps since the last 100 .... 100 beings gathered .... 100 moments of prayer and love .... .... Today we mark 100 .... Blessed be .... ~ , , .. . Message up to 1/2 hour before we begin for video or dial-in connection info.

, , .. . Message up to 1/2 hour prior to start time for video and dial-in co...nnection info. Unpacking my bag in New Westminster as I arrived for a mini-break, I realized that although I had packed my laptop, there was no power cord for it. My laptop battery does not hold a charge well and I know it will in no way last the weekend without a cord. However in this era that we’re in, with its variety of electronic devices, I also realized that much of what I would do, keeping in touch with people, maybe checking social media, those things I can do on other kinds of electronics. Really the only thing that I specifically need the laptop for is processing photographs and a few other things that are more along the lines of work. And there are a few files I might want to access. But there is enough battery power for me to access a file if I really need it. So I didn’t really need the laptop because this time away was intended to be a break. It was intended to be like a holiday. And in some ways the lack of power cord forced me to be very thoughtful about how I used my how time, my screen time in particular. And to remember that I’m not here just to be in a different location and continue to work, but to actually take a break. To give myself permission to just read something, to look out the window, to enjoy doing nothing, to be in this space. To simply breathe ....

For those Protestant denominations that follow the Common Lectionary of which the Anglican Church is one, the Feast of Christ the King is observed on the last S...unday before Advent Sunday. It is the end of the liturgical year and in some Lutheran Churches it is referred to as Judgment Sunday, but for many Anglicans it is referred to as Stir Up Sunday. A name inspired by the Collect in the Book of Common Prayer for that Feast Day: Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; that they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. Historically this was also the Sunday when Christmas baking was begun as in stirring ingredients in a bowl: Christmas cake, Christmas puddings etc. It is also the patronal celebration day for three parishes in our diocese: Christ Church Cathedral, Vancouver, Christ Church, Hope and Christ the Redeemer, Cloverdale.

Drawing into solitude through meditation and photography actually makes me feel less alone during this time of isolation. Mary Oliver writes that "the soul exists and it is built entirely out of attentiveness." In today's reflection, , I call myself back to these practices of attentiveness which have seemed more challenging with a broken foot. Today, in fact, I put aside this post and went out for a walk in the waning sun while I still could. Gathering in circle also creates connection. Thank you for being part if this . It was the eyes catching the light that caught my attention as my headlights panned through the turn. And I wasn't sure if what I was looking at was live. I act...ually thought it was something like a plastic decoy sitting by the side of the road and had this momentary wondering about how that decoy got there. Until, as I watched in my rearview mirror, it turned its head. Owl. I pulled over .... Read about my encounter with this - - . https://www.scatteredsacred.com//night-time-road-side-teac , , .. . Song, Silence, Prayer, Bread, Schnauzers - TOMORROW, Sunday, 2pm Beloved Friends, This month's Sacred Singing Circle will take place on Zoom at 2:00 pm this Sun...day, Oct 25th. We will also go live to Facebook for the first few songs, so that those of you unable to join us on Zoom get a taste of the Singing Circle. Our theme this month is calm in the midst of turmoil. How do we stay centered and rest even in the midst of crisis? We will sing songs to focus, regroup and then carry on the good fight. We'll sing, hear some readings and poetry, have some silence and prayer, and sing a LOT more. If you want to join us in person on Zoom, message me with your email and I will send you the link!

Thanksgiving dinner is over. Stepping outside into the post rain evening I just had to stop for a minute and enjoy the fresh air. It felt particularly glorious ...after the hot kitchen, the hustle and bustle of cleaning up. And so a moment of pause standing under a beautiful Japanese Maple tree and giving thanks for just that moment. Even in this time when we're keeping our gatherings small, just to be with a few of the people that matter an awful lot to me. And eating a dinner that is so familiar from so many years of Thanksgiving, with turkey and all of the things that we enjoy with it, the autumn vegetables. And the way that what was the way my parents cooked and served has changed to how my son likes to cook and serve as we cook together, he and I. The moments of just being together and watching how life continues even as things change, how we celebrate and give thanks even in this time when we need to abide by our cautions of the season. Just recognizing that in all moments there is so much for which to give thanks. , , .. . Message up to 1/2 hour before we begin for video and call-in connection info.

The rain had stopped by the time I met with my cousin for our planned walk. It's gotten cooler and clouds still hung grey in the sky. And yet it was glorious to... be out and lovely to see rain jewelled flowers in October. As we head into colder and more inclement weather, being intentional about connections and noticing the beauty that is around us will be more and more important. I, as I suspect is true for many of us, find myself wearying of the constraints of this time. Yet I also know that compared to very many people it's not so bad for me. And so I look for those moments of reprieve that, like markers on the path, keep us from getting lost, and carry on. And carry on. , , .. . For food in a world where many walk in hunger; for faith in a world where many walk in fear; for friends in a world where many walk alone; For freedom in a world where many walk in chains; we give you humble thanks, O Lord.

Hello Beloved Ones! Each time we gather I offer a prayer to the 4 directions as I prepare the space for our Virtual Healing Circles. As part of that I also call... on and honour the seasons. Autumn is the time of harvest. It is a time of preparation as we store and preserve food for winter. Metaphorically it is also the time of life I am in now. Autumn draws me into introspection, even more than other times of year. And right now I feel a strong call to uplift the beauty around me as a reminder of the presence of Divine Love. And within that is the reminder that beauty is gifted to all equally. We are, therefore, also called to be part of ensuring that is so. Beauty, love and justice flourish together and flourish when nurtured. I hold that gently, firmly and actively. , , .. .
