St Columba By The Lake 15.11.2020

Sunday November 22, 2020 Tune in to this morning's service by clicking on this link. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click... This Pledge Sunday, we reflect on ‘A Short Story about Taking Risks’ (Matthew 25:14-30, 1 Peter 4:10-11). We are given an abundance of blessings. In this time when we want to ‘stay safe’ and follow health directives, how may we join the long history of faithful risk takers in being generous with our resources and talents? How may we be joyful in generosity, and as the story says, enter into the joy of our God? Please click here to access the worship outline, including words to all the hymns. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click We give thanks to Clare Reid for contributing to our prayers, and Michael McAuley for leading our hymns.

Sunday October 25, 2020 Tune in to this morning's service by clicking on this link. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click... This Reformation Sunday, we reflect on The Call to Love and the Great Commandment (Matthew 22:34-46; Deuteronomy 34:1-12). How are loving God and loving our neighbours intertwined? How do these two laws guide all of our decisions? As we seek to be ‘reformed and reforming’, how do we find new ways to live out Jesus’ call to love? Please click here to access the worship outline, including words to all the hymns. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click We are grateful for Clare Reid, who has written the prayers, and Jennifer, Sarah, Léticia & Natalie Dupont, for singing our hymns this week. We encourage you to subscribe to our St. Columba YouTube channel if you are enjoying our weekly services.

Sunday, October 18th, 2020 Tune in to this morning's service by clicking on this link. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click... This Sunday, we reflect on a Short Story about Hidden Growth (Matthew 13:31-35, 1 Thessalonians 1:1-10). We don’t see the yeast working within the bread, nor the seed growing underground into what will become a tree. Each one produces something that benefits many living things. In our everyday life, where are signs of hidden growth? How is God working within us and within simple things around us to provide sustanence, nourishment and learning? How is God calling us to grow and be a meaningful part of our communities? Please click here to access the worship outline, including words to all the hymns. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click We are grateful for Wendy Davies, who has written the prayers, and Monique Caissie, our soloist this week. We encourage you to subscribe to our St. Columba YouTube channel if you are enjoying our weekly services.

Tune in to this morning's service by clicking on this link. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click This Sunday, we reflect on being grateful (Deuteronomy 26:1-2,8-11; Matthew 6:25-33). ‘Gratitude untwists our knotted hearts, waking us to a new sense of who we are as individuals and in a community.’ Diana Butler Bass, Grateful. In God’s view of the world, we are freed from the worry of the everyday, loved and enabled to love others. As we give thanks for God’s good... creation, and our part in it, how can we practice gratitude, with God’s help? Please click here to access the worship outline, including words to all the hymns. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click We are grateful for those who shared their talents with us this Thanksgiving Sunday: Marc Belleau, soloist, Carolyn Klause, violinist, and Jim Goring, worship leader. We encourage you to subscribe to our St. Columba YouTube channel if you are enjoying our weekly services.

Sunday, November 15, 2020 Tune in to this morning's service by clicking on this link. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click... This Sunday, we reflect on ‘A Short Story about Perception,’ (Matthew 25:31-46; Ezekiel 34:11-16). Helping others is a basic part of being a Christian community. In this story, people fed the hungry, welcomed the stranger and took care of the sick. They discover that they fed, cared for, and welcomed Jesus. How does this change the way we understand helping others in their immediate need, and advocating for long term solutions? Are we willing to fall back into the arms of grace when our efforts don’t appear to be enough? Please click here to access the worship outline, including words to all the hymns. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click We are grateful for Jack McDonald, worship leader, and Monique Caissie, soloist.

Sunday, October 4th, 2020 Tune in to this morning's service by clicking on this link. https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click... This Worldwide Communion Sunday, we continue to reflect on parables, with A Short Story about Maintenance (Matthew 21:33-46; Philippians 3:4b-14). In this difficult story about the tenants of a vineyard, we are challenged to wonder about how we care for our world and our community. With the help of a God whose love endures forever, are we willing to take a risk, and do things in new ways? We will celebrate communion this Sunday. Those who are watching from home are invited to have a piece of bread and a small cup of juice or wine for each person participating. Here is an outline of the service, including words to hymns so you can sing along. We are grateful to have Charlotte Adams as soloist this week and to welcome back our Music Director, Michael McAuley! https://stcolumba.us5.list-manage.com/track/click We encourage everyone to subscribe to our St. Columba YouTube channel if you are enjoying our weekly services.
