How can you practice welcoming Christ to your door even if you feel unprepared? Christians who follow both Eastern and Western Christian traditions recognize De...cember 25 as the day that God was incarnated as Jesus Christ. The story of Christmas begins with Jesus’ earthly parents being turned away from all the inns in Bethlehemfinding refuge only in a stable. The humble birth of Jesus sends an important message to people of all faiths: although sometimes it feels as if there is no safe shelter available to us, the Universal Christ is born into our lives each moment. As CAC faculty member James Finley reminds us, even if we reject grace, "God comes anyway." Where have you found the shelter of grace during this tumultuous year? https://bit.ly/3r8M5tr

Drink your tea slowly and reverently As if it is the axis on which the earth revolves. Slowly, evenly, without rushing toward the future. Live the actual momen...t. Only this moment is life. When you touch one thing with deep awareness, you touch everything. When you touch one moment with deep awareness, you touch all moments. ~ Thich Nhat Hanh

This poem is stunning. Just wanted to share it. It is used in the Reform Jewish liturgy, as an optional reading, before Kaddish Every once in a while, a poem o...r song is so well constructed, so clearly conveys the authors meaning and is so precisely expressive that it becomes something of an anthem. The poem below, Epitaph, was written by Merrit Malloy and as one of those poems, has become a staple of funeral and memorial servicesfor good reason. Epitaph - By Merrit Malloy When I die Give what’s left of me away To children And old men that wait to die. And if you need to cry, Cry for your brother Walking the street beside you. And when you need me, Put your arms Around anyone And give them What you need to give to me. I want to leave you something, Something better Than words Or sounds. Look for me In the people I’ve known Or loved, And if you cannot give me away, At least let me live on in your eyes And not your mind. You can love me most By letting Hands touch hands, By letting bodies touch bodies, And by letting go Of children That need to be free. Love doesn’t die, People do. So, when all that’s left of me Is love, Give me away.

Drink water from the spring where horses drink. The horse will never drink bad water. Lay your bed where the cat sleeps. Eat the fruit that has been touched by a worm. Boldly pick the mushroom on which the insects sit. Plant the tree where the mole digs.... Build your house where the snake sits to warm itself. Dig your fountain where the birds hide from heat. Go to sleep and wake up at the same time with the birds you will reap all of the day's golden grains. Eat more green you will have strong legs and a resistant heart, like the beings of the forest. Swim often and you will feel on earth like the fish in the water. Look at the sky as often as possible and your thoughts will become light and clear. Be quiet a lot, speak little and silence will come in your heart, and your spirit will be calm and fill with peace. Saint Seraphim of Sarov 1754-1833

A little humor. What happens when the church organist is bored in the midst of a pandemic:

Kateri Tekakwitha, informally known as Lily of the Mohawks, was the first Native American woman of North America to be canonized. She is also the patron saint of ecology. We honor her legacy as an AlgonquinMohawk laywoman by listening to the cry of creation and committing to act.
