Laura Bradley, Steadfast’s Clinical Director and Counsellor, snapped this photo of her mug with its feel it all reminder to share with us the value of feeling our feelings. In her blog article Our Feelings Have the Potential to Transform Us, Laura explains how when we allow ourselves to experience and process our emotions even when it might be uncomfortable something new can emerge as we move forward. That can be especially powerful, powerful enough to be transformative. https://www.steadfastcounselling.com//our-feelings-have-t/

For counsellors interested in continued learning that will directly benefit the clients you’re seeing now, Group Supervision could be the answer. Personally, I have found Group Supervision to be especially helpful in my career. Putting time aside to reflect and share thoughts and feelings with a group of peers provides a safe place for growth as a counsellor. It also gives counsellors a means of self care by sharing and being seen and heard by your peers. In practice since 19...92, as much as I have a wealth of experience to draw on as a Registered Counselling Supervisor and a Master Therapeutic Counsellor, I continue to learn from group members. I’m looking forward to my new groups starting in August and September. And with enough interest we’ll start more groups in the fall. These are small groups (max. 4 participants) that run once a month for 4 months. More details are available on the Steadfast Counselling website here: https://www.steadfastcounselling.com//supervision-groups-/ To reserve your spot, email Laura at [email protected].

Living with the circumstances of a global pandemic, staying home, dealing with public health restrictions, working in essential services, opening up other work environments -- it can all be stressful. Creativity gives us something else to focus on, brings us inside ourselves and gives us a means to connect with others when we share our cr...eativity. In his video, Nate shares a bit of his creativity. The blog article he refers to can be found here with more thoughts on creativity: https://www.steadfastcounselling.com/...

These are intense times with a global pandemic, and public health guidelines that have us staying home more. For anyone who’s used to living a fast, busy life, less activity, essentially a pause, can be difficult to do. Steadfast counsellor, Kayla Law invites you to take a few minutes for a deep breathing exercise. She encourage everyone to take a little time each day to take a breath and slow down, allow yourself to check in. You deserve it. For more from Kayla and other counsellors, check out the Steadfast blog at https://www.steadfastcounselling.com/blog/
