A big thank you to Enterprise Brant for granting St. Joseph's Lifecare Foundation $5,000 towards the Stedman Community Hospice Security Camera project. The project, at the cost of approximately $28,000 will see the installation of cameras and lighting on the exterior of our building, providing extra security for families and staff as they come and go from our property, and enjoy our garden pathways. More details on the project coming soon! Pictured here, L-R are: Julie Powell, President & CEO of St. Joseph's Lifecare Foundation, Andrew Haines, President of Enterprise Brant, and Cindy Swanson, Enterprise Brant's General Manager. We are very excited to see this project take shape, and are extremely grateful to Enterprise Brant for helping us bring the project to fruition.
It’s easy to miss special people we’ve lost, especially at this time of year. It’s hard, but you’ll get through.
A great big thank you to Forsythe Lubrication of Hamilton for this wonderful donation of 15 cases of hand sanitizer to St. Joseph’s Lifecare Centre. It will be put to great use at both St. Joseph’s Long-term Care and Stedman Community Hospice.
Many thanks to longtime Hospice volunteer and photographer Wendy Oliver who stopped by today to do our Christmas decor photos.
Here at the Hospice a bird feeder sits outside each patient’s window. Our thanks to volunteers Dorothy Schwerin and Colleen Durham who stopped by this week to fill them. Thank you, ladies!
Good news! Although the Hospice gift shop isn't open during the pandemic, you can still get your Phyllis Angel. Visit Home Hardware (next to Dairee Delite) beginning November 24th to get yours. Quantities are limited.
Today is National Bereavement Day in Canada. Today we remember those we have cared for and lost. It is also a time to recognize the work of palliative caregivers as well as those who are grieving the loss of a loved one. Thank you, City of Brantford! Today, these fine folks from the City’s horticultural division delivered 25 poinsettias to Stedman Community Hospice. These will be distributed to patients’ rooms and throughout the building for an extra splash of Christmas beauty! So grateful!
Many thanks to retired Hospice director Cheryl Moore for this wonderful fundraiser in support of Stedman Community Hospice. We greatly appreciate your talents and your generosity. Please visit Cheryl’s Facebook page to view all available items.
Santa Claus has been given the official okay from Canada’s top doctor to do his job on Christmas Eve. That's right! Today, Canada’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Theresa Tam, declared Santa an essential worker. Santa didn't waste any time in stopping by Stedman Community Hospice to request his weekly COVID 19 test from nurse Tammy Skillings. Thanks for following the rules, Santa, and being a great example for all those kids out there!

The most precious gift of all!
We are so very grateful for the wonderful support of business leaders in our community. Our heartfelt thanks to Brant Mutual Insurance Company for their recent gift of $20,500 to Stedman Community Hospice. Photo: Julie Powell, President and CEO of St. Joseph's Lifecare Centre is presented with a cheque from Brant Mutual Insurance's President, Jeff Barnard. On behalf of our patients and their families, thank you so much for this wonderful gift.
Our heartfelt thanks to Monique McGregor and Lisa Duclos and their Stella and Dot customers for your recent gift of 54 personal care kits for our Hospice families. In October, for Breast Cancer Awareness month, the two ladies enlisted their customers' help for a fundraiser. Monique and Lisa asked customers if they would like to donate the cost of a Stella and Dot trademark cosmetic bag, known as a ‘pouf’. With the money earned, the ladies filled each bag with essential items to help patients or family members visiting the Hospice. Each of the bags contains the name of the customer who donated on behalf of themselves or in the memory of a loved one. What a thoughtful and generous idea! On behalf of the patients and families we have the privilege to care for, our sincerest thanks!
Two more great reasons to be kind!
Our sincerest thank you to those who fought for our freedom. Lest we forget.
Who is your hero? Maybe it's you!
Have a great week!
Good advice from someone who knows.
