Meet Kayla @fiveyellowlines (although I know many of you already know this beautiful face!) She is originally from Calgary, but came to Lethbridge for University and has been here for 12 years. Kayla is passionate about craft beer and cocktails, travel, pole dancing, live music, yoga, social justice, board games, and is now spending her evenings falling in love with wine here with us! Her new favourite wine is orange wine and loves organic and natural wines with a who...lesome backstory (oh yes she fits right in)!Her go-to drinks are dark beers or a boulevardier...If we are lucky, we will pour one of her brewed dark beers here this winter! In her free time she likes dancing, doing yoga, and going out to local restaurants for charcuterie and drinks. Kayla’s favourite Lethbridge thing to do right now is frisbee golf! There are so many things that make Kayla an insanely rad human, but her extra unique features would have to be that she has a chemistry degree, is a brewer of beer and cider and is a pole teacher (get yourselves to one of her classes!) If I said she was the newest edition to Steel&Vines I would be lying. Although she has only been working our front of house for just over a week, Kayla spent a whole day way before Covid here painting our space and making our bar and doors as pristine white as they are. She’s been a valued and loved member of our team for a long time now :). We are eternally grateful that this beautiful soul loves us just as much as we love her! See more

Meet Jaimie @jaimieroo, our very loved chef and first new addition to Steel & Vines. Jaimie was raised in Kingston, Ontario, spent a few years in Toronto, had a stint in England, then moved to New York where she lived with her husband, David, for the past eight years. About seven weeks ago, the two of them left their big city life and moved to Lethbridge. I cannot put into words how grateful we are for every minute we get to spend with these two lovely humans. Jaimie is a ...farmer’s market fiend. Her first chef sent her to Paris to learn about their pastries but she says she learned just as much from the way that Parisians shop for their groceries. She loves to cook with the seasons and find out what our purveyors are excited about. It’s also partly why she loves making jam + preserving you should see her eyes light up when she tells you how special it is to open a jar of summer in the middle of February (I don’t think she knows how special this February may taste....) Her favourite thing to make is marshmallow because they adapt to any flavour (bourbon egg nog is a fave of her) and are so different from store bought -though I know she has no problem with those either! She calls marshmallows magical because they are made from up cycled ingredients and are super simplemagic. Jaimie loves anything Mexican or TexMex (shoutout to Sonora Tortilla for saving them during their quarantine!) - tacos, enchiladas, huaraches. Or, straight up classic chips and onion dip. And simply bucketloads of Swedish candy Gin cocktails are her fave - dirty martinis and aviations. Anything with a prohibition era vibe. She also loves a minerally-borderline-salty natural white, or a splashy, jammy red. Although Jaimie gives off this super trendy and cool vibe, she is very into that modern-grannie lifestyle - knitting, reading, making jam and preserves. Having raucous movie nights at home with her hubby is her idea of a perfect night. When someone is cooking for her, she will always order it with everything - burgers, tacos, pizza, breakfast, ice cream - give her all the cheese, sprinkles, and pancakes! She wants it all with everything!! Did I mention we love her! See more
