Steel River Group is honoured to announce that Canadian Business ranked Steel River Group No. 1 on Canada’s Fastest-Growing Startup in 2020. Produced by Canada’s premier business and current affairs media brands, the Startup List ranks Canadian businesses on two-year revenue growth. Startup List winners are profiled in a special print issue of Canadian Business published with Maclean’s magazine and online at CanadianBusiness.com and GrowthList.ca. This accomplishment is a tes...tament to Steel River Groups Business Model and Inclusive Ecosystem centered around collaborative alignment with Indigenous Communities, Industry, and Alliance Partners. The foundation of Steel River Group is enhanced by ensuring people and values are at the core of everything we do. Being named Canada's Fastest-Growing Startup validates Steel River Group’s vision that there has never been a better time to reimagine how a private Indigenous business defines, creates, and captures value for our people, communities, and alliance partners. Our tremendous growth has been fueled by the commitment of our employees and the support of our partners. As a collective, we continue to remain true to our values and this recognition speaks to that. Steel River Group anticipates an exciting finish to 2020 and looks forward to the continued expansion of partnerships with Indigenous communities across Canada in 2021. We have been working with a Master Carver, Sanford Williams, from Yuquot, B.C to design an Eagle’s Nest for our CEO, Trent Fequet, as a gift from the staff of Steel River for his creation and unwavering commitment to the Collective Impact Model. We wanted a representation of what the Collective Impact Model means to us: a place to collaborate, bring together resources, share knowledge, and build sustainability for the future. As an Eagle builds its nest each year, more reso...urces are added for its strength and growth. It is very fitting for the Collective Impact Model as we are working together with our Indigenous partners to bring together resources and traditional knowledge for initiatives that will support sustainability. Mr. Williams, who is from the Nuu-chah-nulth Nation, has indicated this is genuinely a one-of-a-kind piece and explains in his culture and lore, the eagle represents chieftainship, power, guidance, foresight, and intellect. He explained, as he began the creative process, the eaglet’s carved in the nest branches began to represent team members coming together. It was a true pleasure to collaborate on this piece with Sanford and we now have a home for it within Steel River’s Eagle Nest Boardroom. Steel River now own a piece of history from Yuquot. www.SanfordWilliams.com Twitter and Instagram- @FriendlyCove Sanford’s Mission Statement: I want to maintain the beauty and authenticity of traditional West Coast native art because it’s more than just my work it’s my way of life.

Today is #OrangeShirtDay, a day to recognize the lives affected and lost through the residential school system, which saw more than 150,000 Indigenous children and youth sent away from their parents in the 19th century in Canada. This date was chosen as an opportunity to set the stage for anti-racism and anti-bullying policies for the coming school year. It is an opportunity for First Nations, local governments, schools, and communities to come together in the spirit of recon...ciliation and hope for generations of children to come. #everychildmatters #wechoosetocare
