Each year, the Peterborough Victoria Northumberland and Clarington Catholic District School Board provides an opportunity to parents, students, staff and community members to review the draft school year calendar for the upcoming year. This year, the Board is presenting two options for consideration. With Option 1, both elementary and secondary students would be in class on the Friday before March Break (Friday, March 11, 2022), and staff would have one PA Day in the week bef...ore classes begin. March Break would, therefore, be Monday, March 14, to Friday, March 18, 2022. Option 2 would include a holiday on the Friday before March Break (Friday, March 11, 2022) for all elementary and secondary schools, and two PA Days for staff in the week before classes begin. March Break would, therefore, be Friday, March 11, to Friday, March 18, 2022. Please complete this brief survey to provide constructive feedback. Your comments will be reviewed and considered in making final recommendations for Board and Ministry of Education approval. Link: https://docs.google.com//1FAIpQLSe_oZSJiwQjo8Ss-7/viewform Survey input is limited to one submission per individual. Thank you for your input. Survey Closes: Friday December 11, 2020
Ms. MacLean's Grade 1 class wanted to share with us what they think peace is, and remind us that it can be found even in the simplest things. Thankyou so much for this Thursday morning warm and fuzzy!
The Region of Durham will hold the fall test of its nuclear public alerting system on Monday, November 23 and Tuesday, November 24. The system warns people in the unlikely event of an emergency at the nuclear generating stations in Clarington or Pickering. The Regional tests will take place during daytime hours over two days: On Monday, November 23, an auto-dialer will call landline phone numbers within 10 kilometres of the nuclear generating stations. Call display will show ...the call coming from 905-666-6291. On Tuesday, November 24, the outdoor sirens will sound for up to one minute. The sirens are located within three kilometres of the nuclear generating stations and will be heard by people who are outdoors and in that area. Alert Ready Cell phone, radio and TV alerts will be tested by the Province of Ontario separately on Wednesday, November 24. More information is available at durham.ca/NuclearPreparedness. Please share this information accordingly. We appreciate your continuing support. Note: The next test is scheduled for May 2021. Thank you

NOVEMBER MATH MOMENT
We all realize that this year is a crazy year! As we approach Advent we are thinking about our Be An Angel program. In the past the families of the St. Elizabeth Catholic School community have been very generous and this year we ask you again, to please support our drive to help the food bank at our local church. This year we will be holding a Drive-thru on Saturday, November 21 from 10 AM to 2PM at the school parking lot. We will have tables available that will allow you t...o drive by and drop off your donations. You will not have to get out of the car. Also due to the Pandemic and the required protocols, we will not be able to collect toys for the children. Instead we ask you (if you are able) to drop off gift cards. These will be distributed to those in need by the food bank. If you can not make it to our Drive-thru Food Drive on Saturday, we will be accepting food and gift card donations at the school. As always we thank you for your continuous support and generous donations. The St. Elizabeth Catholic School Council. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9zRwK_5-k3M

Dear parents/guardians, Today we are sharing some important information and a Transition Request Form for families who wish to switch between in-person learning and Virtual school. Please read carefully, as this will be the last opportunity for families to make a switch between the two learning modes until Feb. 2, 2021. What do I need to do as a parent/guardian?... If you DO NOT wish to switch your child from in-person learning to Virtual school or from Virtual school to in-person learning, you DO NOT have to do anything. Your child will remain in their current learning mode. If you DO wish to switch your child from in-person learning to Virtual school or from Virtual school to in-person learning, please read the following information carefully. Once you have read the information, please fill out the Transition Request Form by 12:00 noon on Oct. 22, 2020. If a form is not completed by the closing date, the student’s current learning mode status will remain. Link to Transition Request Form: https://forms.gle/qT4C2SagSErZZLBu9 This change would take effect on Nov. 12, 2020. After that, students will remain in their current learning mode until the next transition date, which is Feb. 2, 2021. Mental Health Moment - October 2020 How are you connecting your dots? Our approach to BE WELL is Holistic - Mind, Body and Spirit. We need to take the opportunity to connect these three dots to achieve a balance in our overall well being. A simple place to start is to BREATHE. Take 30 seconds to just stop and focus on your breath. Clear your MIND of other thoughts, acknowledge them and let them go as they come into your mind. Focus on your breath going in and out of yo...ur BODY. Allow yourself to be open to the SPIRIT of God and to be present. https://www.pvnccdsb.on.ca//mental-healt/mind-body-spirit/
Hello St. Elizabeth Family! As some have asked about protocols for returning to school after having COVID-19 symptoms, we have provided a friendly flow-chart to give a brief run down of steps to follow. For any further questions about specific symptoms, please reach out to your health care provider for direction. Have a great day!
Dear Parents and Guardians, With the cases of COVID-19 rising throughout the province, we are sending this note to remind all parents and guardians, who are dropping off students at the beginning of the day or picking up students at the end of the day, to please be mindful of physical distancing. At the end of the day when we can have a rather large gathering of people at the east side of the school it is especially important that we take care to remain physically distant and... leave space for primary students getting to the busses. Yes, we are outdoors but we need to be mindful of physical distancing protocols. If we can not be properly distance we remind you to wear a mask. During our morning announcements today we have also asked teachers to bring/send students out at the end of the day wearing their masks. All may remove their masks when physical distancing is achieved. We are all in this together. We thank you for your cooperation and help in keeping our students and families safe.
Hello St. Elizabeth Family! For the first two staggered start days, school staff (all will be wearing orange vests) will be awaiting your arrival on the yard at 8:50, to welcome your children and direct them to their assigned classroom teacher. Once the teacher has everyone accounted for they will guide their students to their classroom. Each teacher will be holding a sign with their name on it to ease any confusion, and school staff will be there with class lists to direct n...ew students or anyone unsure of where to go. At the end of the school day teachers will accompany their students outside to meet you. We're all SO excited to see you tomorrow! Please be patient and stay safe. We're all doing the very best we can
As many of you have been wondering who your children's teachers are, we would like to extend the link to Homeroom Look-Up that will be live at 3 p.m. To look up your child's homeroom teacher you will need their OEN number (found on the top right hand corner of any of your child's report cards) and their name. Have a great day! LINK: https://homeroomlookup.pvnccdsb.on.ca/
There are a few changes to lunch time that we wish to share with you. The School Board and the Public Health Department are requiring students to stay at school for lunch to minimize additional contacts in the community. We know that some parents do truly send children home for lunch and we ask that you contact your classroom teacher to discuss this issue. However the Friday lunches at the pizza places at the two malls on either end of Longworth Avenue will be discontinued for the duration of the pandemic. Additionally, we are unable to have items dropped off for lunch and must discontinue the lunch drop off table. We appreciate your cooperation in this important health and safety matter.
A big thank you to FreshCo. on Longworth for their donation of student backpacks. Each backpack is stuffed with nutritious and delicious food.
