Regardless of how one feels about this subject - medically-assisted dying - this is a sad outcome for a couple married for 48 years.

It takes all types... "A" for effort, I suppose.

Good idea? Or does this open the floodgates to similar immunity suggestions in different circumstances? Will it create too much litigation around whether an organization was acting in 'good faith'? And how does this translate to how organizations manage their people and processes? So many questions, from yet another COVID-curveball!

Five (Current) Takeaways from our COVID-19 Experience: As we creep towards re-opening and recovery, we naturally look forward to next steps, future issues and what may change in terms of how we do business, gatherings, travel - everything. But we also can look back at what's happened over the past couple of months. Fear, unease, lack of clarity, friction, anxiety - we've lived with all of these, often during the same day (and through sleepless nights). If we're going to go th...rough such a brutal range of emotions and mental health impacts, we have to take something good from it, too. So, what lessons do we take away from our experiences over the past two months? #1 - One lesson must surely be the importance of planning and preparedness. Governments the world over have moved remarkably quickly to address the economic impacts of COVID-19, but a business' level of planning and preparedness stands out against this background. #2 - Another lesson - which seems related - is about people: businesses who have great people, who have invested in their workforce, who have treated their people well, seem to be surviving this period better. At Stringam LLP, if you canvassed each of the partners, in each of our locations, as to what has been our strongest asset in this difficult time, they each would unquestionably say our people and their amazing attitude and support of our business/their workplace. #3 - A third lesson no doubt must be internal leadership. The ability of a business to pivot, to adapt to this unfamiliar territory, depends to a great degree on the business' leadership capacities. #4 - A fourth lesson seems to me to be the strength of your local relationships. Clients, suppliers, referral sources, business associates, allied tradespeople - these are what help us get through difficult times, and at no time has that seemed more important than now. #5 - Fifth: streaming content is fine (as far as it goes), but you still need to get out, be active, be healthy, support yourself and your family. Just some musing today. If your business needs assistance and guidance as it looks toward future, contact me and we'll start a conversation. Your business' future may depend on it, and it may help your sanity as we still deal with these issues.
