How would you spend $100,000 to improve the West End? Last month, the community-led WE Choo$e Impact Team launched Vancouver's first participatory budgeting pilot in the West End. Supported by the City of Vancouver - Local Government, WE Choo$e will host their final engagement event on Thursday, February 7 at the Dr. Peter AIDS Foundation from 6:00 to 8:00pm. If you're curious about the process or would like to get involved, please stop by! ... Learn more at https://vancouver.ca/participatory-budgeting : Alison Boulier
If you had $100,000 for improvements to your neighbourhood, how would you spend it? For the past six months, I've had the opportunity to work with a fantastic group of West End residents and community stakeholders on Vancouver's first participatory budgeting pilot process. Supported by the City of Vancouver - Local Government, WE Choo$e launches today at the West End Community Centre Association with an engagement event on Denman Street from 4:00 to 7:00pm. ... Curious about coworking? Come try out Envision Coworking for a couple days. Lots of flexible membership options.
"People get their eyes checked every year or two but, to be honest, when was the last time you [had] your hearing checked? Early intervention is very important." --Yat Li, Western Institute for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing

Excited to be supporting the North Vancouver Museum and Archives as they work toward the creation of a new purpose-built museum in Lower Lonsdaleās new Shipyards District. Give them a like on Facebook to see what they're up to. #ExtraordinaryMuseum
Over the past year, I've been supporting the City of Vancouver's Places for People Downtown initiative. Thomas Daley and the team at the City have been hard at work developing a plan to deliver exceptional, vibrant, and memorable public spaces, places, and experiences in Downtown Vancouver. With summer here, we invite you to join us at one of our public space engagement pop-ups later this week. We want to hear your feedback on our emerging goals and directions, and update you on next steps in the process. More details at http://www.vancouver.ca/placesforpeople
New exhibit opening tonight documents Blue Cabin restoration. Great partnership between grunt gallery, The Polygon Gallery and the North Vancouver Museum and Archives.
So rad to see West End Games Night in Jim Deva Plaza get this kind of response. Kudos to GNH Young Ideas for all the hard work. #PlacesforPeopleVan
How can you make public space in downtown Vancouver more vibrant and inviting? Volunteer for the #PlacesForPeopleVan Public Space and Public Life Study conducted by Gehl - Making Cities for People, a global leader in people-centered urban design. We're looking for volunteers to help collect "people data" to better understand how residents and visitors get around and spend time in Downtown Vancouver. The research will provide insight into what people like about public space, h...ow they use it and why. Public life surveys will be conducted on September 14 and 16 and again in January 2018 to capture seasonal variations in public life. Volunteers are invited to participate in both surveys. To sign up as a volunteer, email [email protected] by September 8. Photo: Alison Boulier
