Miss S is building her name from stickers this morning. It is important to teach in a variety of ways. Keep it fresh and make it fun

Getting ready for school comes in many different forms. Currently we are focusing on small motor skills such as cutting shapes, straight lines, curvy lines and zig zags as well as tracing our numbers, letters and shapes. Before your child can learn to print, they need to master the art of tracing. This teaches them how to control where their pencil is going and how to shape the letters they need and want. We are also working on letter recognition and what sounds each letter make to build the foundation of reading.

A few from earlier this week

As summer turns to fall, and the weather gets colder and wetter, I would like to take this time to remind everyone to please send a sweater and rain gear (preferably one piece as this significantly cuts down on the time it takes to get everyone in and out the door), light hats and mitts. As always, weather appropriate footwear. We have reached that time of year where we get all the different weather snd sometimes all in the dame day. Please remember that we walk to the school everyday, and like to be able to play outside. So it is imperative that everyone is stays warm and dry.

Wishing all of my daycare kiddos, past and present, a wonderful first day today!! Unfortunately this is the first year I have not been able to see you off myself in one way or another. I will be thinking of you all today much love little ones

Todays breakfast

Please take a few mins to read through this. Drowning is does not look like what you think it does. It is silent and if you dont know what to look for, deadly. Please be aware this summer as you are enjoying the weather in and around the water. If you have older kids, educate them in what to look for. And dont forget to make sure they know to get help, theow in a flotation device and never to try and pull their friend out themselves. You may just save a life. They just may end up saving a friend.

Today we planted potatoes. Cost nearly nothing and although most of my littles missed the planting part, I look forward to harvesting with them all this fall. Lets hope they grow well and produce lots the boys and I miss all who are not here and hope everyone is and stays well. Much love to my littles and their families

For those stuck at home with their littles and needing something different to do

As we all know, Easter is next weekend. And while we all love to spend the holidays with our families, please dont. Social distancing means if they do not live with you then you should not be seeing them unless it is via some sort of video chat. Easter dinner and other family gatherings can be postponed. The longer people continue to ignore what is happening in the world right now the longer we will all be apart from those we care about. Flatten the curve. STAY HOME AND DO NOT HAVE GUESTS OVER

I wanted to update everyone as to what the plan is over here to keep everyone safe and healthy. First, my sick policy will be changed from 24 hrs free of fever to 48 hrs fever free WITHOUT the aid of medication. If you medicate your child and send them here you will be IMMEDIATELY TERMINATED. If you or your child are exhibiting respiratory systems there will be a doctors note required before returning to care stating that there are no underlying infections (COVID-19). ...Each day at nap time and the end of the day all surfaces such as door handles, light switches food areas, sleep cots and cribs (end of day only), will be disinfected. The bathrooms will be cleaned at the end of the day each day. Extra hand washing will be required of all children, those who need assistance will be given assistance. Please ensure you are practicing and talking about the importance of hand washing before and after eating, after using the bathroom and after coming in from outside as well as coughing/sneezing into elbows for those old enough to do so. I will be doing the same here but we need to work together as a team. If you suspect you, your child or someone in your home has or has been exposed to COVID-19 please notify immediately and contact your doctor. Your child will be allowed to return once cleared by a doctor. This is very important as we have friends here who are immune compromised. Play will happen on my property only and we will not be having any friends over during this time who are not enrolled in my care. This is to limit the risk of exposure to all of us. I will not be excepting drop in clients at this time. Finally, my doors will remain open unless I am mandated by public health/government to close my doors. This means that unless all members of the public are required to self quarantine, or if one of my family members contract COVID-19 I will remain open. Things here will be business as usual.

For any of those worried or wondering, my doors will still be open until public health forces me to close. However, my sick policy remains in effect and will be strictly enforced in order to keep your families and mine safe and healthy.
