In this photo from the Matthew Jarmin Collection, we see an unnamed schoolhouse in 1921. Since most of the photos seem to be from the Fenn area, it may be the Fenn school. However we can not say for certain. From the Matthew Jarmin Collection.
More from the Matthew Jarmin estate. The Fenn store. Undated but most likely in the 20's/30's like the bulk of the collection. The tea company on the window is most likely the Salada Tea Company that started in Atlantic Canada over 100 years ago. Don't know about the cocoa company listed on the other pane.
We have been receiving such wonderful submissions for our project. We have delighted in you folks sharing your stories and your photos with us. Today we were gifted a very large collection of photos from the estate of Mr. Matthew Jarmin. Mr. Jarmin was a local from the area who took it upon himself to rescue and revive a historic home that had been abandoned. Below is one photo from the extensive collection that was given to Mr. Jarmin. ... Stettler Fair. 1929
A piece of history moves to make way for progress. The home of Fred Carder(Stettler Cigar Factory) was built by Mr. F.T. Colley. It was then home to the King f...amily for many years. It would then be home to the Kossowan family for a few years. The two-storey home is seen here being moved from its location on the east side of town. It would be moved to Botha where it still sits. Although this photo is undated, the house was being moved to make way for development of the King Industrial park. The park started to be developed in 1968. This house sat roughly where Terroco now sits. See more
Donating Food? We have been asked often about accepting food donations. This is a struggle for us right now because of many reasons. The Food Bank operates on... the generosity of caring, giving people. That also includes our caring and giving volunteers. We are deemed an essential service so we need to keep volunteers and clients safe. At the recommendation of Food Banks Alberta, donations of food have to be isolated for a short period of time, so volunteers have to keep tabs on what comes in and when. We can no longer have big work bees as we used to. Even though the United Church has been very understanding of our situation, we have limited storage space. We have been, since the beginning of the pandemic, preparing pre-made hampers, so have limited capacity to include non- standard hamper items. We will never say no to donations of food. We are grateful for your support. What really helps us is to let us know if you are doing a collection so we can prepare. If you have the option, a monetary donation is always appreciated.
