New recruits, and along with a few of our seasoned firefighters, took a stab at this year’s physical fitness test. All that participated did very well (but not quite enough to beat the old guy) lol! We are looking forward to this year’s training and watching the next platoon grow to serve the community with skill and pride!

This past shift, Alpha crew was kept busy with 3 false alarms calls and one outside fire. Crews kept the fire contained to a holiday trailer in a driveway. High temperatures caused damage to some nearby structures but there were no injuries reported. #stettlerfire #firefighters #alarms #staysafeoutthere

On Mondays practice, FireFighters worked on skills ranging from vehicle extrication to RIT( Rapid Intervention Team) drills with a High Point Anchor. Also some of the more foundational skills such as ground ladders. Tower 10 was in use to practice deployments of the parapet ladder. The parapet ladder allows Crew members to descend a parapet wall on a roof of a structure.

Since the 1st of the month our crews have been kept on their toes with 8 calls to service. 4 Alarms Calls, 2 Medical Assists and 2 MVIs. One MVI involved a partially submerged SUV with occupants status unknown at time of call, prompting our crews to activate ice water rescue procedures. Thankfully there were no major injuries from either MVI. @stettlerfire #icewater #icyroads #drivesafe #winteriscoming #stettlercounty

Yesterday, Station 1, 2 and 4 responded to a trailer fire on Highway 56. We want to thank Kelly Mailer who brought his loader and helped to remove and pick every bail apart for us to be able to extinguish them. We also want to thank Darcy Grieg and his wife who supplied all personnel on scene with sandwiches. There are a lot of generous people in our communities! In the picture, the fire is under control but the real work is just starting as every individual bail will have to be completely extinguished.

This Monday we honoured our Firefighters whom finished their NFPA 1001 Level 1 & 2 Standard for Firefighter Professional Qualifications as well as probationary Firefighters who received their Yellow Lids marking the end of their probationary rank. In the middle of the group is Doug Delker who was recognized for his exemplary service to the Department which he served for 35 years. This picture kind of reflects how a lot of us might feel during this pandemic, a feeling of isolation in our own little world. We encourage you to keep the faith, support one another, be responsible to do your part in stopping this virus and never let go of hope and love. This too shall pass!
