Well, the campaign trail is at an end and what a trail it has been! 4300kms around 1700 doors and, as it was to be expected while still discharging all the duties as reeve, getting to all the households was impossible. Thanks to all who I didnt get to, for your understanding. Id just like to reconfirm my position once again, regarding the plebiscite regarding the hiring of special constables or Peace - Bylaw officers. As Ive stated since the beginning of this campaign..., as voters, the decision is solidly in your hands. i believe in the democratic process and if you vote in favour, we will design the position to provide the service that meets the concerns weve heard about from you. Watching for suspicious activity and patrolling the county so as to have a presence, Monitoring for, and dealing with concerns around unsightly premises, perpetual abuse of our roads from overloads and road use agreements. Ive heard loud and clear that you have no interest in hiring someone whos out there writing out tickets for speeding or seatbelts or bothering producers as they go about their business. Agreed, Im a farmer too and have never had any interest supporting the position for that purpose. Again, I stress, that YOU have the voice. If its NO, then as far as iIm concerned its NO and thats fine by me. But if its Yes, then well design the position to meet the needs of you, our ratepayers so that we together reach the desired outcomes. Thanks for the great support Ive received and lets get out tomorrow to ensure the Progressive Leadership that has moved our county forward so effectively over these last 7 years, continues for the next 4 years. Please share this with all your friends and lets get the message out!! See more

Another great day on the campaign trail in Mallaig and St. Lina listening to some really good ideas as well as relevant concerns. We know more work needs to be done and I very much appreciate everyones input. With it, the County will build upon its success and continue to progress as a great place to live, work, farm, and raise generations of family.

Good Evening Folks, I have had a wonderful day out and about in Division 3 South, Perch Lake, Division 4 Lafond area, as well as Elk Point straightening up my signs. We moved here as a family in 1976, and one of the big reasons I decided to make the area my life long home, is because of all the amazing people that surround us. I am very humbled and grateful to have the opportunity to work on all County residents behalf to make our home a better place. God Bless,

Never underestimate the lengths people will go to advance a campaign. Statistics show that election signs have a very minimal impact on ones campaign, perhaps a 1% difference. In driving around today, I have noticed a few of my signs are no longer where I put them. If you find them, please connect with me and I will take them off your hands. The last thing I want is them littering the ditch. Thanks Text or call me at 780.614.5107 Also,... feel free to connect if you have any questions or comments regarding the current or future of the County. See more

When I came onto council 7 years ago, I was the only change on Council. Everyone else had been there for a minimum of three years. I came in with the idea that each voice around the council table is equally respected and equally heard. I listened to you, the electorate who was looking for transparent and accountable governance which represented the best for all of the County. Today, with me as your Reeve, that remains the same.

Hi Folks, Great to see the the Town of Elk Point forum live feed this morning on Lakeland Connect. Its gratifying to see all the appreciation given to the County for our help to the town during the last term. As good neighbors its imperative to maintain the sustainability of our smaller communities and we are happy to help enhance quality of life opportunities for our rural residents.

Hi Folks, Ive just arrived home from another great day of visiting with residents in the area east of St Paul and east St Vincent area. Election season is also known as "Silly Season" and this one is no different unfortunately. In the 2013 election the rumour was that "If Steve gets one more term the county will be broke, I tell ya...broke!!!" I had to carry bank reconciliations around to prove that we actually had $5 million more in the bank in Oct 2013 than we had i...n 2010 when I took over as Reeve. Yep. Werent broke then, not broke now... So the rumour given to me today, is that now apparently we owe $30 million??? Wow!!!! Im not sure what planet this news comes from but its unfortunate that something such as social media, possible of such great and productive use can be used in such a misguided and disingenuous way. Lets keep it honest, lets keep it real.. The St Paul political community and its residents deserve the facts and Ill be happy to share them. The year end financials are available on the county website or you can call our auditors. Im willing to take calls anytime on the subject. Thanks everyone. Steve Please share with friends. Lets stop the BS now!! See more
