The team was busy again at our annual trip to the Operation Christmas Child processing centre in Kitchener. Over 4,000 shoeboxes of special gifts were processed for deserving children around the world.

A good summary of the latest Ontario budget. But here's what irks me......all the press about the "free" tuition and all the other good points. Did they mention they are eliminating the tuition credit (so if you don;t qualify for the free tuition, you no longer get any Ontario tax credit for tuition paid)? How about the fact they are eliminating the kids' activity credit (only people with money were taking advantage of it, but then again, only people with money pay taxes, no?) . Really bothers me how the media hype all the "good" and forget about all the "bad" (i think that's a song isn't it?). Sorry for the rant, but the rose-coloured glasses optimism is getting a bit carried away, and heading toward a demise.

This is a good article (although maybe a bit complex). RRSP's are not mandatory (as many banks may like people to believe). TFSA's may make more sense for lower-middle income individuals. The bottom line though - people need to have SOME savings, where they put them is the question.......
