Update 2:30pm - The Superintendent of Schools has called an ALL CLEAR. All shelter-in-place protocols have been lifted and schools will dismiss students as norm...al at the end of the school day. If your child normally walks home and you would like to pick them up after school please contact your child’s school directly to make arrangements. Stay safe everyone! Update 1:28pm - schools will remain in shelter-in-place for the remainder of the school day. School busses are scheduled to run as normal. If parents/ caregivers wish to pick up their children, early pickup can be arranged by contacting your child’s school directly. As of 11:30am all Medicine Hat Catholic Schools have been put in a shelter-in-place as per division emergency protocol. A shelter-in-place is intended to keep staff and students safe and secure in the school building during a severe environmental situation. https://www.mhcbe.ab.ca/our-di/emergency-response-protocols In this circumstance, classes will continue to run as normal and students will be kept indoors until further notice. We want to ensure families that students are safe in the school buildings. Schools will be contacting parents/caregivers directly if any further direction is required. Updates will be shared on this post and to families via email.
Morning program fun at St. Francis School. Our out of school care program runs both before and after school for any family needing child care outside of school hours.
We are excited to have students back in the building today. Miss Marcia has created an exciting new Winter Café centre for ELP students to enjoy!
St. Francis Xavier teachers and staff are missing seeing their students face-to-face, but wonderful learning is still happening!

Celebrating Métis Spirit and Culture November 15-21. Indigenous Relations Minister Rick Wilson issued the following statement to recognize Métis Week: The proud and strong spirit of Métis people will shine brightly across Alberta during Métis Week. I encourage all Albertans to join this celebration of culture, language, history, and the contributions of the Métis people of Alberta.... Our province is home to more than 114,000 Métis people, the largest population in Western Canada and the second largest in the country. Alberta is the only province with land set aside for Métis people the eight Metis Settlements with 1.25 million acres. Every year, the memory of the great Métis leader Louis Riel, a champion of Métis rights, is commemorated on Nov. 16, the anniversary of his hanging. Today, Métis people continue to contribute to the cultural, social and economic fabric of our province. Take the time to explore the vibrant Métis culture and celebrate the unique and valued contributions Métis people make to Alberta. Please visit alberta.ca to find a list of Métis Week virtual events taking place Nov 15-21.
Reminder for families: no school for students November 9-13 MHCBE teachers and support staff will not be required to report to their school buildings tomorrow. Staff are encouraged to engage in PD virtually from home. Stay safe everyone!
