Out from the cold I made 20 blocks pattern called for 9 but wall hanging are not my thing so 4 across and 5 down makes a sofa throw. A free pattern from Moda. Just have to finish the outside borders press and straighten up first This was a fun quilt with easy construction and I used up a lot of scraps and tried some new techniques
This week I made 12 cup blocks all from scraps .My idea was to join them as I go ,since I did not seem to get around to it later however When I went to join row 2with row 1 I had cut stashing a different width only a 1/4 inch but enough so I had to starch some new fabric while I waited for fabric to dry decided to finish up different UFO’s flying geese I added to more columns took me 8 hours and pieces were cut But sewing room is a lot more organized.Table-runner was made by Granddaughter Maggie last summer and I put on border and machine stitched it Not a fun morning. On to more cups

As if I did not have enough goals here is another one 2 blocks a day from patchwork squares. Patchwork Squares is a free website that has hundreds of quilting blocks with examples of quilt layouts . Most layouts are a little dark so I brighten up the fabric choices 1st one is Abe Lincoln Platform 2nd is Air Castle . If you see a theme I am doing blocks in alphabetical order . I will be continuing with Lori Holt s book Vintage Farm 2 but needed to do something a little less difficult and fussy.,also time to practice new techniques. Full disclosure I did not follow these instructions to the letter I took any short cuts that I knew of. HST s for exampleThere are so many easy ways to get it done
