Homecres. Amazing no dig garden by Charles Dowding in Alhampton, Somerset, UK Some call it backyard homesteading others call it urban homesteading, suburban hom...esteading or backyard farming. But the basics of backyard homesteading are the same taking the space you have and raising food on it and reclaiming vintage skills. See more
April 22 - Earth Day!

good to know just in case someone has an idea of trapping and relocating "our" skunks and raccoons... yes, we have both species in St. Georges Co-op. And they woke up already. Keep the garbage contained:-)
Hi-Wood Meadows Housing Cooperative in High River, AB was one of the co-ops affected by the Calgary flood of 2013. Co-op members across Canada donated to a fun...d to help the co-op recover. After items were replaced, the co-op used the remaining funds to create a community garden. The garden stands as a symbol of your support and the power of co-operation among co-ops. #CoopTour.

"Often you tend to see board members with a lifetime of experience to draw on, through their past work and volunteer experiences, that can contribute to the governance of the coop." A co-op manager shares what's special about working in a seniors' housing co-op:
The Botanical Garden of the University of Warsaw is preparing for the opening of a social composter for education. Own compost is the best, free, ecological source of fertilizer. Do you know that by buying peat soil, we contribute to the degradation of peatlands and thus to global warming? 6% of global anthropogenic, or related to human activity, emissions are the result of excessive exploitation and degradation of peatlands.
Say no to roundup.
make the liner from newspaper instead of using the plastic bag to accumulate the organic waste before putting into our green containers. It could also be used for the regular garbage, as the plastic bags, we pack the garbage in, are causing one of the biggest challenges the waste management is facing.
our community needs them for the potlucks, and other gatherings!
never give up on community:-)
