We are getting close now. Update coming soon.
Exciting things happening at the Stirling-Rawdon arena. Ice is going in and we are so pumped to get back and provide a safe fun environment for your hockey player.
Reminder to register. Last day is tomorrow before waiting lists and extra fees. Development for October before reassessment and possible 3 on 3 within your grouping.
SDMHA is happy to announce that our Online registration portal is officially open. We will be taking online registration only this year, and the registration is open from now until October 1, 2020. This short timeline is intended to allow us time to organize our programming based on the number of registered participants. Please note that this is the only official registration for the 2020/21 season. The pre-registration that you may have sent in before this was used to dev...elop our programming, but we require that all players be registered through the official HCR link on our website. Registration Information can also be found there. If you have any questions or difficulties registering, please contact Adam Gordon at [email protected].
Check these out. Contact Beckie at Talbot to get yours for the kids back to the rink protocol, for school, for the store.....
SDMHA has had their return to play plan approved by OMHA - Development and skills training to start leading to 3-on-3 or 4-on-4 locally, then depending how things go, travel to centres within our health unit. Our return to play plan will be posted on our website soon. We anticipate ice time being available for October 1st so online registration will be arriving soon and will help the executive finalize planning for the next two months. KEY POINTS... During the Initial month no dressing rooms to be used During the initial month no spectators to be allowed into the building SDMHA will prepare and manage tracking and provide copies to the Arena for Record Keeping Stage 1 will see the use of the ice by all teams U8 and above (Novice Midget) depending on interest Keep an eye on the website for further details. Roll Blues Roll!!!
With OMHA allowing centres to enter Phase 3B Sept. 1, your help is needed more than ever. All the kids will need help and direction this year. If you ever thought of helping out, now is the time. SDMHA is looking for volunteers to fill executive positions Due to COVID-19 and the inability to host an AGM for the 2019-2020 season, SDMHA is seeking members who might be interested in volunteering on the executive for the upcoming 2020-21 season. The executive will have five op...en positions up for grabs. If you are interested in learning more or would like to put your name or someone elses name forward please contact Secretary, Jennifer McCaw at [email protected] Stay tuned for more updates on when the Arena Board will put the ice in and when SDMHA will start modified return to play. https://www.omha.net/covid-19.
Throwback to our Peewee team. Not sure the year but told Scott Sharp is in goal, Brock Ellis, Todd Reid, Tavis Morrison and Shawn Gawley were a few on this team. Possibly went unbeaten that year. Anyone with more info? Thanks to the Library for posting.
A reminder that ONLINE REGISTRATION is now open for the upcoming 2020/21 hockey season. As all other responsible associations are currently doing, Stirling & District Minor Hockey will also be following the recommendations of both the Government of Ontario, local Health Authorities and the OMHA. Moving forward safety is paramount so we can have our players back on the ice to play a game that they love. With that said it does leave the 2020/2021 hockey season still in an uncer...tain state. Even so, plans must be made in order for our association to be ready to go as soon as we have the "go ahead" to drop the puck. Thus, all teams must be registered with the OMHA and our coaches selected. To do both of these things efficiently it is imperative that we have a firm grasp on the number of players we will have. So PLEASE register your players ASAP if you wish for your child to remain involved with SDMHA hockey this year. No fees will be required at registration until we have a definitive plan for the return to hockey from the OMHA. All information made available to us will be posted on our website and social media venues. For those wishing to obtain PTS or NRP forms, these will be dispensed once OMHA makes them available. Finally, there are no tryout dates scheduled for any organization at any level at this time. Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate this, our new normal. We hope to see our kids back at the rink very soon!
Reminder to check the Stirling Blues website for recent updated information in registering, coaching and volunteering for the executive.
We are also accepting names of people interested in volunteering on the executive.
Registration is open and coaching applications are being accepted! Despite not knowing what next season will bring just yet, we are looking for expressions of interest so we have an idea of numbers for planning!! Roll Blues Roll!!
Here is a story of the Morgan Family and their twin boys, Ethan and Noah, who want to raise awareness for the Kids for Kids Hockey Tournament. They were to go to the opening ceremonies but with the cancellation, they are still trying to get the word out about the great job this tournament does in raising money for the NICU and Paediatrics. Great work boys! Their story is below. University Hospitals Kingston Foundation... "The Kids for Kids Hockey Tournament committee and volunteers are dedicated to support the pediatric department and Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Kington Health Sciences Centre," says Garry McColman, Chair, Kids for Kids Hockey Tournament. "The Morgan twin boys are among many children that have received life-saving treatment at our hospital. We thank them for being this years tournament ambassadors. We will continue to support this tournament, and we look forward to next year!" Here is the Morgan familys health care story: Ordinarily, giving birth to twin boys would be cause for celebration. However, on the evening of April 27, 2008, Kristin and Derrick Morgans twin boys, Noah and Ethan, were born prematurely at 27 weeks and one day. It became clear that they had a treacherous fight ahead. Having seen Dr. Graeme Smith, Professor and Head of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Kingston Health Sciences Centre (KHSC), through the pregnancy, Kristin and Derrick had driven straight to KHSCs Kingston General Hospital (KGH) site from their home in Stirling after Kristin experienced pains on that Sunday morning. For a few hours it seemed the medical staff might be able to stop the labour from progressing, however, Kristin was soon prepared swiftly for an emergency Caesarean section.
