Ice Cream for everyone this afternoon!
Getting crafty for Christmas! Our "Stirling Park Magic of Christmas" walk-through is going to be absolutely incredible! A huge shout out to our Environment Services Manager Brent for making the bodies and the stands for the Nutcrackers! The Residents are going to LOVE them!
This afternoon we went around with Wine and Cheese and we had 25 Residents join us on their computers and their phones to play along in one of our favourite Activities of "Name That Tune". You can only see the Residents who joined on their Computers, but there were at least 15 more listening in! Everyone was singing and dancing along and guessing the name of the Artist and Song titles! (see the comments for some video of John and Buddy Dancing!) We just had to finish off with our favourite though! ;) Finding ways to come together and have fun... without actually physically "Coming together!" Have a good weekend everyone!
Thank you Paul Warren for entertaining us this afternoon! We went around door-to-door bringing all the Residents Wine and Cheese and then helped our Residents sign on for some afternoon Entertainment! It was a GREAT SHOW! ANNNNDDDD we had a surpise guest come on, Simon Clarke, all the way from England! What fun those two are! Thank you for a great afternoon!
Our Budgies Jean and Flo got upgraded from an apartment to a mansion today! Also we had the opportunity to get some treats for our staff and tell them how much we appreciate them!
Yesterday afternoon we enjoyed some ice cream for our afternoon snack! Ice Cream Truck music, smiles and refreshing Ice Cream, sure way to make our Residents happy!
Getting creative this afternoon!
3rd Annual Soupapalooza! Kitchen vs. Residents! Sandra was the winner with her Potato, Bacon and Banana soup! She was awarded the Golden Ladle (which will be turned into a trophy!) and a Gift Certificate to Bulk Barn! The Residents Tuscan Sausage did really well too! Next time you're all invited, and you be the judge! ;) ... Such a fun, hearty way to enjoy lunch!
We enjoyed some music online this afternoon! We opened up the meeting an hour early and as Residents started signing in, we took the opportunity to catch up and take up some answers from this mornings Daily Newsletters crossword. Tomorrow afternoon, we are going to enjoy our Wine and Cheese social online along with a round of Name that Tune!
Today, all over Canada amid this pandemic we take time, to remember the men and women of our country who gave their lives in wars and conflicts to ensure our freedom. Though we weren't all able to come together in one room, we held three separate ceremonies outside, to ensure we all came together in our Reflections. May we all pause today and never forget the sacrifice they made for us.
With some of the new restrictions, we are finding ways to stay busy and happy! We made healthy Smoothies in the morning, and a few Residents got to get their bike rides in! Many of the Residents went for walks and did their exercise routine in their rooms. Important to stay moving! Every Wednesday, until our hair dresser can come back in, our Activities department is providing a whole day of hair washing and styles! So today was a full day! ... In the afternoon, one of our Residents helped Nissa make soup for our Annual Soupapalooza Lunch tomorrow! While Pat went door-to-door with FANCY hot chocolates! Our Memory Care floor had a beautiful day, painting and spending time on their patio! And we stocked the staff lounge with some snacks and goodies for our Wonderful staff today! Never a dull moment!
Beautiful drive to Luskville and Gatineau today! We stopped for a picnic lunch and soaked up all of the Beauty of the season! Cloudy today, but the colors were still magnificent!
Happy National Cinnamon Bun Day! We had a traveling Cinnamon Bun Cart today! Sandra, our Food Service Manager, prepped all of the toppings and made pumpkin spice, caramel and french vanilla cream cheese icing!!! Great treat for a rainy Sunday afternoon!

Getting creative and keeping our Residents Happy and more importantly healthy! BINGO!!!!!

Today we had a Resident Appreciation Brunch to thank our Residents for being so kind, patient and understanding during these difficult times. We also took the opportunity to present our Resident Bob Ford with the "Stirling Park- Resident Champion Award". Everyday Bob goes above and beyond to make Stirling Park Special. With lunches for staff, flowers for Residents birthdays and anniversaries, special dinners with Wine and Roses, heading the Staff Appreciation Fund, and MUCH ...MORE! Please follow this link to see our nomination for Bob for the RHRA Resident Champion Award. Bob was one of the top nominees, and though he wasn't the "recipient" of the Award, we made him a plaque on behalf of Stirling Park. Thank you Bob, and thank you to all of our wonderful Residents who make Stirling Park a Home. https://www.rhra.ca//information-for-retirement-home-resi/
