Bringing back this yummy chocolate recipe because I still make it regularly!! So simple, delicious and loaded with healthy fats! 1/4 cup organic Cacao Powder... 1/4 cup Peanut Butter 1/4 cup organic Coconut oil @freshthyme If you know me, you would know that I absolutely LOVE chocolate...its definitely my weakness and I could consume it every day! This is one of my absolute FAVOURITES! It is delicious, super simple , and a healthy alternative to a chocolate bar! Coconut oil- Made mostly from Medium-Chain Fatty Acids (caprylic acid, lauric acid and capric acid) MCFAs are easier to digest , not readily stored as fat and smaller in size allowing for easier cell permeability for immediate energy. Coconut has been shown to : improve skin issues , reduce stomach ulcers , improve energy, improve brain function, boost immune function and much more. Cacao- Cocao has many great benefits and is loaded with some key nutrients (learned from @cejessen recently) For 2.5 Tablespoons: - 102mg of Magnesium (relaxation, performance and healing mineral) - 291 mg of Potassium (required Electrolyte for normal body function) - 17mg of Flavonoids (antioxidants to scavenge damaging free radicals) - 5g of Fiber with no sugar @the_wellnessessities Peanut Butter - tip: use PB that only had DryToasted Peanuts and salt in the ingredients list. **add honey to sweeten and VOILA!

My nephew Carter Dean Hempel! First of all, wasnt he the cutest baby!! Carter got his first chiropractic adjustment when he was just 2 weeks old! Family and friends have asked me quite frequently if it is safe for babies to get adjusted ?... The answer is ... YES!! Chiropractic care is focused on removing nerve dysfunction, which improves the brain-body connection to ensure proper growth, development as function of the human body. Did you know that growth and development occurs at its faster rate during the first year if life ?? Early signs that a babys nervous system is out of balance include: chronic ear infections, colic, baby reflux , bed-wetting, irregular sleep patterns, and constipation ... and this is just to name a few. Chiropractic technique used on babies is extremely gentle and safe. It is completely different then how we adjust adults. The pressure used to adjust a baby is the same as the pressure you would use to check the ripeness of a tomato *My sister-in-law sent me this picture from South Carolina Chiropractic adjustment always had a calming effect on Carter when he was a baby and result in him being a happier, healthier, well-adjusted baby! I love to knowing that Carter gets his chiropractic check-ups. This will ensure proper development and facilitation of his nervous system as he goes through his milestones. #chirobabies #adjustments #wellness #nephew #growthanddevelopment #healthynervoussystem

DID YOU KNOW?? Breast Milk contains a natural artillery for fighting infections. If your baby has a sticky eye,a cut, eczema or anything that draws your attention, try applying colostrum or breast milk onto the affected area. The antibody IgA which is found in abundance in breast milk prevents germs from forming on the wound and helps speed healing. Apply the milk with a cotton pad and allow it to fully dry.... DO YOU SUFFER FROM CHRONIC HEARTBURN?? It seems as though there is an increasing amount of people who suffer from weekly or even daily heartburn and Acid reflux. Lack of Acidity in the stomach is COMMONLY associated with Heartburn. Taking antacids of any kind will probably get rid of some of the symptoms of heartburn BUT will further contribute to making the stomach less acidic. Proton Pump Inhibitors are the drug of choice for Acid Reflux, however what this drug does i...s end up further decreasing the acidity in the stomach, which can be the cause of heartburn in the first place. TIPS to try: Keep a food diary for a few weeks to track down those trigger foods that are causing your acid reflux. FOOD is MEDICINE what you put in your body either supports or is detrimental to the systems in the body. Choose the foods that agree with you and help support your body working optimally. Take the time to find the ROOT cause of the heartburn or acid reflux. It will serve you longer in the long-run to fix the cause and not just put a band-aid over the problem! (get your spine and nervous system checked by a chiropractor) Avoid eating 3-4 hours before bed shot of Apple Cider Vinegar daily. (this works as more of a preventative measure you have to do it every day) -- ACV can interact with some medications so consult your doctor if you are taking meds. For immediate relief swallow tsp of baking soda Sleep with your head slightly raised ( mention this to your chiropractor as this might cause neck and back discomfort) Improve posture, sit up and stand straighter. AVOID the foods that trigger your acid reflux. ** this is quite possibly the MOST important thing to do if you have acid reflux. Again, think of FOOD as MEDICINE. ***Having heartburn every now and then is not necessarily going to cause harm to the body.. But if you have chronic heartburn and arent taking care of the root cause of the heartburn this could really cause harm to the whole digestive tract and the body. *** ** These are simply general guidelines and are not specific to anyone in particular. Talk to your MD, Chiropractor or Naturopath about how to find the cause of YOUR heartburn and to Naturally help rid of heartburn.

Follow up to my post last week on the autonomic nervous system. When we are under a high level of stress for a long time this can cause chronic over stimulation of the sympathetic state. The following are some symptoms associated with an overactive Sympathetic Nervous system. ... Anxiety, increased heart rate Shallow breathing Always fatigued Increased muscle tension Poor quality sleep, night sweats Decreased libido Increased susceptibility to infections (get a lot of illness and colds) What are some some things are that would be beneficial in order to reintroduce order to the nervous system when they are feeling like they are in a Chronic Sympathetic State Deep Breathing exercises Go for a walk in Nature Meditate Decrease consumption of sugar and caffeine Go to bed at the Same time every night Keep in mind that these are general wellness guidelines to follow and that the cause of sympathetic overload can differ from person to person. Please get checked by a healthcare professional who can better individualize your case. My husband and I love to spend time in Nature! Its a great way to get away from the busyness and stresses of life. ** Photos taken on an adventure at the Brandon Hills with our Awesome friends Brandon and Emily who travelled up from the States to see us this weekend! ** @ Brandon Hills

The Autonomic Nervous System is the part of the Nervous system that is AUTOMATIC. We do not think to tell our heart to beat, or our digestive system to digest our food .. it just happens! There are two parts to your Autonomic Nervous System Sympathetic Nervous System : aka Fight or Flight/ stress response this portion of the nervous system is your gas pedal ...it will activate when you need to escape a sabre tooth tiger or to fight off an attacker, however, for the mos...t part we shouldnt have to deal with those things in our day to day lives Parasympathetic nervous System: aka Rest & Digest/relaxed response this portion of the nervous system is our brake * Both parts of the Autonomic Nervous system are absolutely needed, however, the issue in the way most of us live our lives nowadays is that there are too many things that cause us to live in a Sympathetic dominant way. Being in a Sympathetic state is meant to be short term to get us out of trouble. We are not meant to be constantly stressed out or stressed out long term. Although the list is much longer than this, digestive issues, sleep problem, and skin sensitivities, and weight gain are among some of the big issues that chronic stress is a major contributor. Examples of things that can fire your Sympathetic (STRESS) response: feeling rushed, fatigued, worrying, eating poorly, dehydration, toxic relationships, never taking a moment to rest, bad thoughts, bills, spending time on social media, car accidents ect ect.. Basically anything that activates your stress response or gives you a rush of adrenaline Examples of things that can put you in a Parasympathetic(REST) state: chiropractic adjustments to restore balance to the nervous system, massage therapy to relax the muscles of the body, deep breathing, meditation, drinking something hot, stretching, being in nature, having lunch with a friend or a family member etc etc. *Finding ways to RELAX, put yourself into a parasympathetic state and manage chronic stress can drastically help with #chronicpain #digestion #sleepissues #fatigue #anxiety #bloodpressure #mentalfocus #breathing #tensemuscles #mentalhealth #physicalhealth #emotionalhealth
