We continue our series of prayers for community in a time of pandemic. The entire collection is available at our website. 24 September 2020 God of changing win...ds, God of steadying hands: be with us on the days when we find ourselves in doubt, so that we can be for others when we they need some reassurance. Give us extra strength when we are feeling weak, so we can lend a little muscle to those who need support. Grant us a double portion of your grace so that when we are lacking enough for ourselves, we can still extend the peace that comes from resting in your steadfast love. Amen. www.corrymeela.org

O God, from your providing hand even the dissatisfied and grumbling receive what they need for their lives. Teach us your ways of justice... and lead us to practise your generosity, so that we may live a life worthy of the gospel made known through your Son Jesus Christ, our Saviour. Amen. We bless you, God of Seed and Harvest And we bless each other That the beauty of this world And the love that created it... Might be expressed though our lives And be a blessing to others Now and always AMEN John Birch, faithandworship.com
God of risky love, God of divine courage: to be ready to listen we should know what its like to be heard;... to be good at giving support we should know what its like to be held. We give thanks that our best relationships not only provide additional strength; they help us practice the skill of being human by being vulnerable. And, therefore, strangely of being more like you. Amen. www.corrymeela.org
...help us see that what is mine is hardly ever as nice as what is ours.

Thank you to Diana Patterson, Don Wells, Kathy Phillips and everyone else who worked so hard to make this a reality. Im sorry we couldnt all be there in person to celebrate this milestone. What a difference this beautiful hospice will make in so many lives.
God of compassion, Jesus was lifted up on the cross, a sign of your steadfast love and a pledge of your will to save. Grant healing of soul and life eternal... to those who look upon the cross in faith; through Jesus Christ, our peace and our salvation. Amen. (Holy Cross Day, Alternative Collect) See more
To build up spiritual resilence, we offer this series of prayers. 14 September 2020 God of long walks with friends,... God of the longer walk of friendship: we give thanks for the accidental encounters, the weekly catch-ups, the second cups of tea. We give thanks for the desire to pick up the phone, the thought to send a line, the time we make when we have none. We give thanks that humans are relational creatures, begun before birth in contact with another, and forever after made not for efficient productions, but for deeper connections. Amen. www.corrymeela.org

The healing pool. Part of the 9-11 memorial in New York City. Thinking of those who lost their lives and all whose lives were so profoundly affected that day. ...A prayer from the Episcopal Church for September 11th: O Almighty God, who brings good out of evil and turns even the wrath of your children towards your promised peace: Hear our prayers this day as we remember those of many nations and differing faiths whose lives were cut short by the fierce flames of anger and hatred. Hasten the time when the menace of war shall be removed. Cleanse both us and those perceived to be our enemies of all hatred and distrust. Pour out the spirit of peace on all the rulers of our world that we may be brought through strife to the lasting peace of the kingdom of your Son; Jesus Christ, our Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Happy Labour Day! Almighty God, your Son Jesus Christ dignified our labour by sharing our toil. Be with your people where they work; make those who carry on the... industries and commerce of this land responsive to your will; and to all of us, give pride in what we do and a just return for our labour; through your Son Jesus Christ our Lord. The world needs community like never before. In that spirit, we offer this series of prayers. 7 September 2020 God of incremental changes,... God of seismic shifts: this year has seen the world transformed, even if we feel at times that we have barely moved. As we assess where we are now in this strange, familiar place, may we take heart in knowing that the simple acts of kindness and compassion we extend help shape the world thats yet to form and affect what happens next. Amen. www.corrymeela.org
Please keep the nominees and their families in your prayers
Encouragement Encouragement is a need we all have; encouragement is a power we all have. Unleash that power. You have within your heart an almost endless supply of encouragement for other people. Practice it! Even if you are running short on receiving encouragement, practice encouragement, and you will reap what you sow. -Br. Curtis Almquist Society of Saint John the Evangelist
God of our knowing selves, God of our inquisitive selves: when we stop being curious, our relationships wither. May we encounter others today... not with our minds made up, but with our ears pricked up with interest and fascination. May we form questions still open to the possibility of surprise, finding something wonderful in answers we werent expecting, and discovering how everyday experiences can still change us, when we let them. Amen. www.corrymeela.org
O God, there are times when we are overwhelmed and frightened by what comes our way. Help us to recognize you in the midst of our fear and to trust in your presence. Be our courage when strength fails, and our hope when we might otherwise give up. Remind us that you are the God who is with us, the God who promises to walk with us through it all. In Jesus name we pray.... Amen. See more

This resonated with yesterdays Old Testament reading.
A prayer for us from the Corrymeela community God of honesty, God of grace: opening up to others raises a fear of being judged,... for reasons both legitimate and imagined. And so we pray that you would let us love ourselves the way you do: to recognise another child of God. May we also find you alive in those who listen to us and hear our story, so that instead of judgement we are given compassion; and instead of rejection we are offered embrace. Amen. www.corrymeela.org
Please continue to pray for our diocese as we prepare to elect a new diocesan bishop on September 12th
