Congratulations to all the Rookie tour players that participated in our year end tournament this past Sunday. We had red ball, orange ball and green ball divisions for boys and girls, awarding gold, silver and bronze medals. The players had a great time and were treated to pizza and a visit from Santa Claus, who seemed to really captivate their attention. Thanks to all the coaches and volunteers who helped organize and keep score as it was no easy task managing so many kids. Our sport is in great shape if the turnout to this event is any indication.

TENNIS COMMUNITY REELING AGAIN; I’m saddened to say the Tennis scene has lost another one of its pioneers. Burf Ploughman played tennis since he was young, loved the sport, gave back on the court, but most importantly gave off the court in so many capacities. He is one of the founders of the group spearheaded by another legend Gerry Bishop, whom we recently lost, that achieved the goal of getting the Province its first indoor tennis facility. His list of accomplishments is lo...ng, but helping Burf get ready for senior nationals by hitting with him when I was a very young coach brought me great joy, and when he came back after finishing third in the Over 60 category, he was so proud and I was too. Thanks for all that you did Burf, and you will always be remembered in our tennis community and certainly by me. I wish the Ploughman family all the best during this time. Take care of yourself Patsy, thinking of you! Head Professional Mike Meaney
