SJE families, The Newfoundland and Labrador English School District is extending the suspension of in-class instruction to all K-12 students in all schools under its jurisdiction. This suspension is effective up to and including Friday, February 26. Further information on virtual learning will be provided as it becomes available.... We understand this is difficult news for students and families. Understandably, there will be questions and concerns. Stay well. We will get through this together if we remain positive and focused on supporting each other and our entire school community.

SJE Families, By now many of you know that Dr. Janice Fitzgerald, the Chief Medical Officer of Health, has invoked COVID-19 Alert Level 5 for the entire Province of Newfoundland and Labrador for at least the next two weeks. This means that all in-class instruction is suspended and that we will be moving to a Scenario 3 model (online learning) District-wide, effective Monday, February 15, 2021. I will have more information for you throughout the weekend as it becomes available to me. Stay safe everyone.

Another Update! Please share and take care. Dear Families: The following was received from the Office of the Minister of Education this evening.... Public Health has advised that they currently view the risk to the school community as low. However, out of an abundance of caution we will be suspending classes at St. Joseph’s Elementary and King Academy on Monday, December 7 to allow additional time for cleaning. Dear Families, The District is aware that our school families in your area have become concerned about possible Covid 19 cases in your community. You will find attached a memo from the Chief Medical Officer of Health which we hope will provide some insight and direction.... Please be assured that the safety of students and staff is the District’s top priority. We are very excited to announce our virtual Christmas concert this year will be streaming on December 17th! Details are listed on the event page.

SJE will be collecting non-perishable food items again this year for families in need. We are asking all staff and students to consider donating to this worthy cause and share some Christmas Spirit. Hampers have been placed by both the primary and Elementary Christma trees and will be there for 2 weeks - December 16th. Thanking everyone in advance!
