St. Joseph's Hospice 25.11.2020

"Tomorrow, November 19, 2020 is Children’s Grief Awareness Day. To participate in Children’s Grief Awareness Day, we encourage you to wear blue tomorrow to show awareness of the impact that a death has on children and their need for support. Additionally, you can participate by voting in the Children’s Grief Awareness Movie Bracket Challenge being held online. Vote for the movie that you feel is best for children/families who are grieving by tonight at 11:59pm. The Champ...ionship Matchup: Lion King VS. Coco. Watching a movie as a family is a great way to spark conversation exploring the topics of death, dying and grief with children and youth. Closest to the Pin Golf Ball Drop winner donates winnings back to Hospice The Firefighter’s Closest to the Pin Ball Drop is a part of the Bill Cannon Memorial Golf Tournament and this year for the first time we introduced the Ball Drop Raffle. The ball drop took place at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club with a grand prize of $5,000 to the closest ball. We were fortunate enough to have the amazing help from 3 fire fighters who volunteered to assist us with the drop of the gol...f balls. At 3:00 pm on October 9th, the balls were dropped from the boom ladder of the firetruck onto the green of the driving range. What a sight! Ball number #868 was the closest to the pin which was purchased by the Carpenters Union Local 1256. Once the Carpenters Union Local 1256 were contacted as the winners they immediately decided to donate the $5,000 back to Hospice. What a generous gift! Thank you to all the members for your continued support of Hospice. Bottoms Up Bar & Grill Donates $1,000 Our community is so thoughtful. Even during such tough times, we try our best to help each other in any way that we can. Since the start of the pandemic, Bottoms Up Bar & Grill has been supportive in preparing meals to residents through St. Joseph’s Hospice’s COVID-19 relief fund at a time of great uncertainty. On Monday October 12, 2020 Bottoms Up Bar & Grill hosted a Thanksgiving Dinner and donated $5 from every dinner sold to St. Jos...eph’s Hospice. They received an overwhelming response which resulted in a $1,000 donation and over 200 orders made for their Thanksgiving Dinner! Thank you to everyone that participated in this fundraiser and THANK YOU to Bottoms Up Bar & Grill for ALWAYS thinking of us. Live Facebook Concert Supports Hospice Roots of Rome The Roots of Rome Concert was an entirely virtual live event held on December 12th in support of St. Joseph’s Hospice. In lieu of tickets the band asked their virtual attendees to consider making a gift to Hospice. The response was amazing and with 100% of the donations coming to Hospice the Roots of Rome Concert raised $1080. ... This generous donation comes to us at a great time of need and will allow us to continue to deliver compassionate care to our residents and programs and services to their families free of charge. A huge thank you to everyone who attended the virtual concert and donated. Words cannot express our gratitude! National Bereavement Day November 17, 2020 is National Bereavement Day. Grief is our normal response to loss and bereavement is the state of being bereaved after someone important to us dies. When someone dies we naturally grieve. For many of us grief impacts all aspects of our lives; physically, socially, emotionally, cognitively, and spiritually. St. Joseph’s Hospice provides grief & bereavement groups and individual counselling to adults and children to help support them in their grief, free of charge. If you, or someone you care about, is grieving and needs support, please reach out to us at 519-337-0537.
