Our School Council is holding a Poinsettia fundraiser this month, working with Flowers by the Lake. Plants are available in red or white for $28 and for every plant purchased, $10 will go to the school. Orders are due by November 20th. Please spread the word and help support our many amazing School Council sponsored activities.
The Kenora Catholic District School Board has received notification of a positive COVID-19 case at St. Louis Living Arts School and are working closely with the Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) on next steps. The positive case is being followed up by the Northwestern Health Unit and all contacts of the case will be called and given instructions by public health. We are working with the NWHU to make sure all potential risks are minimized. Due to our COVID-19 prevention strateg...ies in place, those staff and students not contacted by the school can continue to attend school as usual. For reasons of privacy, we will minimize sharing personal information about any case and encourage others to avoid identifying individuals. All students and staff should use the Government of Ontario’s school screening tool daily before attending school. https://covid-19.ontario.ca/school-screening/ Visit the KCDSB website for COVID-19 Advisories for more information. As per Ministry requirements, all cases in schools will be uploaded to this website. https://www.kcdsb.on.ca///c_o_v_i_d-19_a_d_v_i_s_o_r_i_e_s
We Will Remember Students in all classes helped prepare for Remembrance Day by creating several poppy banners which are displayed outside the school. Although we are unable to share in a larger Community Remembrance Day Service today, our school will participate in Prayer Services in our classrooms.
One year ago today the St. Louis Choir had the incredible privilege of singing with the Elmer Iseler Singers. What a special memory to appear on our timeline. We look forward to the day our voices can ring out again.
Our Living Arts theme for November is Ignite, and our Grade 3 class kicked it off with their Fire Starting Workshop today. Students learned about fire safety in the wilderness and used flint and steel to start survival fires.
