Dear friends, You may have heard that yesterday afternoon the provincial government issued a lockdown order for Toronto and Peel regions in the face of rising numbers in the Covid-19 caseload. One of the elements of the lockdown order includes the reduction of church services to 10 people or fewer, including liturgical personnel. In accordance with that order from the Province, we will be entering again a season of suspension from in-person worship. This lockdown begins off...icially on Monday, 23 November, so this Sunday's service in celebration of the Reign of Christ will continue as planned, with our in-person gathering this Sunday at 10.00 am. In the coming days, the Parish Leadership Team will meet to consider how we will continue to gather virtually for worship. We hope to let you know by the middle of the week how we will proceed as we look to the season of Advent, and the celebration of Christ's coming among us. Meanwhile, we continue to pray for all those affected by the Covid-19 virus. We also pray for the medical staff, doctors, nurses, researchers, first responders, as well as front-line workers, and so many people who will continue to work through this lockdown, making sure that we can still access essentials like groceries, medications, and many other needs. And we pray especially for those who will be isolated by this lockdown: those who live alone, those whose family and friends are far from home, and for the homeless. Then the king will say to those at his right hand, Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me. Then the righteous will answer him, Lord, when was it that we saw you hungry ...and gave you food, or thirsty and gave you something to drink? And when was it that we saw you a stranger and welcomed you, or naked and gave you clothing? And when was it that we saw you sick or in prison and visited you? And the king will answer them, Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. Dear SMM Community: Every year around this time we launch our annual Sock Drive, asking for donations of new wool socks which will be distributed at Christmas to our Community Dinner guests. Good wool socks are a great kindness for our Community Dinner guests, many of whom have trouble keeping their feet warm in winter. Can you spare a few? We've already received a donation of 32 pairs! We'd like to get over a hundred pairs, if we can - one year we collected 200 PAIRS! You can find nice wool socks at Winners, at the Great Canadian Sox Shop, and at stores selling outdoor work wear, among other places. Donations can be dropped off at the church office Monday to Friday, 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, or inside the church on Sunday morning. Help us help other people!

Last week we talked about how we're supposed to use the talents that God has given us. But how do we know when we're supposed to use them? How do we know who to use them for? Mother Johanna takes us through Jesus's answer to that. (Hint: If you see someone in need - anyone at all - you should help that person ... as if they were Jesus.) https://youtu.be/Iu9FP1ihcq8
