We have some BIG news! When One Door Closes, Another Door Opens One door closes and another door opens or so they say. When we announced that we were closing the doors to Towne & Country Cheese Shoppe and hanging up our cheese mongering aprons, the flood of love and support from the patrons of our shop was overwhelming. Many of you reached out on social media, wishing us luck on our next adventure and sharing memories about what you would miss most. Some were concerned about ...where to get aged Cheddar, half wheels of Gouda or a nice piece of Stilton. Others commented on how much our fresh salads and lunches would be missed. That is a concern I share as I haven’t made my own lunch in many years! But overall, people were understanding and supportive as they came in one last time to stock up. Late last week, I received a text: Would we consider selling the Cheese Shoppe instead?. Seriously? was my response. While it was a difficult decision, I had made peace with moving on. The right decisions are rarely easy but this move made sense for our family. Seriously! was the answer. And so began a whirlwind of a week, where conversations, meetings and facility tours brought us to today’s announcement. We happily wish to congratulate the team of Amie and Derek Shackleton, Jennifer Stacey and Steven Laurin on their purchase of Towne & Country Cheese Shoppe. Each of these individuals have strong ties to the Stonetown and a combined skill set that will see the iconic legacy of the Cheese Shoppe carried into the future. Lead by Jenn, who brings with her 35 years of experience running Stacey’s Pizza, each brings something unique to the team. While the Cheese Shoppe brand you have come to expect will be preserved, look for new ideas including a revised website, online ordering options and enhanced front porch drop offs. Our door will still close on Friday, September 4 with a plan to reopen later in the month, once all renovations are complete. I guess I will try to make my lunch at home for the start of September, knowing I can order a Cheese Shoppe Special with pickles on the side again in the near future!
