The construction of McLean Taylor’s new headquarters resulted in a great opportunity for local accounting firm Famme & Co., who will soon be moving into McLean Taylor’s former offices at 25 Water Street North (just south of St. Marys’ green bridge). See the full story below.

A busy week! Three newspapers, 56 unique pages, and over 15,000 copies in total. This was our first week of the Wilmot paper covering New Hamburg, Baden, etc within Wilmot Township. Don’t get me wrong, we have an amazing team of newspaper deliverers and it’s not an easy job, especially when the weather is poor. BUT I have to acknowledge a BOO to the Independent for this effort. The mailbox is literally right there. Not hidden. I would also like to say BRAVO to the homeowner who very politely just sent us this photo so we were aware and so we could remind our deliverer about how it’s supposed to be done. I’m sure it’ll be fine next week as a result!

Over the years, we have had so many talented young people gain experience with us at the St. Marys Independent through co-op education programs. Today I’d like to introduce you to Gunjan Sharma, who is a multimedia journalist from India who came to Canada in 2019 and is currently living in K/W area where she is a journalism student at Conestoga College. This has been an unusual co-op term because, due to COVID, all of her work experience must be attained while staying at home.
