This is the type of project that’s funded by our individual contributions to Presbyterian World Service & Development (PWS&D).
We end the past year in gratitude to God for the moments and the milestones in which we experienced God’s presence. We begin the new year in prayer for a more j...ust and loving world where we depend on the abundance of God’s grace, the generosity of God’s mercy and the unwavering promise of God’s compassion. #presbyterian #dailyprayers #faith #church #worship #Christian #NewYear2021 #HappyNewYear See more

We pray to God to bless everyone with peace, especially those who are vulnerable, anxious and hurting, as well as those who are experiencing violence. #presbyterian #dailyprayers #faith #church #worship #Christian
This year has been especially hard, so we’re all looking forward to Christmas more so than ever before. Here’s Mackenzie Ballard singing Where Are You Christmas?, a song appropriate for the time.
We thank God for the dedication of workers and volunteers at food banks, women’s shelters, breakfast and lunch programs, and other outreach projects. #presbyterian #dailyprayers #church
Wyatt Fudge started playing in September. He’s currently on page 35 of his book, but skipped alllllll the way to the last page to play Jolly Old Saint Nicholas just for all of you!
Christmas 2020 is different for many, including St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church. We will not be gathering for our traditional congregation-led Christmas morning service. Restoration work necessitated by the October 2019 fire continues and COVID has made it more difficult to gather even if we could do so in another church. Session and the Board of Managers wishes the congregation a Merry Christmas and a kinder, gentler year in 2021. We pray it won’t be long before we can worship safely in our own church. Blessings. Join our Moderator, the Rev. Amanda Currie, and Presbyterians across the country on Monday, Nov. 30 to welcome the season on Advent. Together, we will reflect, ...pray and encourage one another in faith. Register for Advent with the Moderator: Letters of Encouragement here https://presbyterian.ca/2020//03/advent-with-the-moderator/ and receive your unique link to join the online gathering. #presbyterian #church #Advent #Advent2020 #Christmas See more
The first studio Christmas selection is from Lauren Power singing Mary, Did You Know?
It’s almost time ... the pieces are learned and ready to go! Beginning tomorrow until Dec. 23rd, the Christmas music videos of our organist Aimee Doiron’s piano and voice students will be shared here. Aimee was unable to hold her Christmas recital this year, the proceeds from which were going to be donated to St. Matthew’s. We are happy to share the students’ performances for your enjoyment. ‘Tis the season!
This month marks 20 years since Aimee Doiron became organist at St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church, taking her place on the bench a month after long-time organist Viola Arklie retired. Aimee had been playing the organ at St. Matthew’s for approximately five years when the photo on the left was taken in 2005. The town was 100 years old that year and St. Matthew’s was 95. In the recent photo on the right, Aimee sits at the piano she has played since Grade 2. Aimee doesn’t guar...antee she will match Mrs. Arklie’s 62 years as organist, but she plans to give it a good run. Aimee, thank you for bringing your musical talent to St. Matthew’s and staying with us. We will celebrate your milestone when we can all gather in our newly restored church. In the meantime, we want everyone to know how much St. Matthew’s appreciates you. I must add that Aimee has donated the proceeds from tickets sales for two of her piano and voice student recitals to St. Matthew’s ... one held before the fire and one held after. See more
Rev. Ian S. Wishart (middle), former interim moderator of St. Matthew’s Presbyterian Church, has been padre of Newfoundland and Labrador Command, Royal Canadian Legion, for many years. He offered a prayer at today’s Remembrance Day ceremony in St. John’s. It included this thought: No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Rev. Wishart will mark his 90th birthday on Nov. 26. (Photo from the Newfoundland and Labrador Command Facebook page)
Bringing Light into the Darkness is a new resource with easy-to-follow instructions for making Advent candles at home.
