It’s Boxster day, after a transmission refresh by @alpineautowerks the transmission will be mated to a brand new clutch and light weight flywheel!

Carbon or Aluminum, what’s your favorite? Dash’s and all under dash wiring is complete, switch panel looks after things like #coolsuit fuel pump over ride, wipers etc. still some work to complete the plumbing for the @lifeline.fire fire suppression systems... starting to look like a race car !

Progress - All the wiring is in place for all 3 cars, Dash’s installed in 2 cars! Started the installation of the fire suppression systems... fun stuff. Little planning is needed, as is documentation for the future... hmm what does the red wire do

Who’s scared of a little wiring? It looks daunting when laid out like this, there huge bundles of wires are sent to the US for some weight reduction, money well spent!

#2 ‘One shade of Grey’ slight change of process for the second car doors were one of the first things to come off... this one is an automatic as well so some additional work involved in converting to manual!

This week was a busy one, lots of engine prep.. Baffles for oil pans, new crank seals, light weight flywheels and new clutches, attached transmissions and installed headers... Can you guess the mileage on the engine oil pans in the last pic???

Starting with a clean slate is the only way to go, all the interior sound deadening was removed, along with the seam sealant that would interfere with the cage weld in plates... this was not fun

‘Blackie’ Interior is surplus to requirements, so it all must go... even the wiring harness comes completely out of the car... more on that later!

‘Blackie’. Tear down begins with preparation for and subsequent removal of the engine and transmission. The transformation from street car to race car has begun!

Wiring has started, the lightened wiring loom (approx 30lb reduction in weight) is first wrapped in braided sheathing for protection, the additional wiring for cutoff solenoid and its associated switches are added. The ‘edited’ loom is then laid in the car and secured. Maximum satisfaction

Well winter 2020 is shaping up to be pretty busy! 3 Spec E46 builds are on the go ready for the 2021 season @area27okanagan Follow @stm_built to follow the builds.

#3 ‘Gold Member’. This is an interesting one, Japan delivered car with 40k on the clock. Basically a no option car, no sunroof, no leather even had a cassette deck... Perfect platform for a race car!

One of the first steps is to start tearing the car down, removing all the niceties that make the Boxster a great road car, that are in-necessary in a race car.

‘One shade of Grey’ interior gone, mechanicals gone... a pile of ‘Must Keep’ and a pile of garbage, it is surprising how much comes out of these cars!
