IMPORTANT: Updated Statement re Covid-19 Protocols Dear Friends, As most of you are probably already aware, this afternoon Dr. Bonnie Henry introduced new strict measures to try to reduce the spread of Covid 19. The measures that affect the public life of the church mean that there will be no in person services until at least 7 December. That means there will be no services on Sundays 22 November, 29 November and 6 December as things currently stand. I am very disappointed th...Continue reading

I am pleased to let you know that the Diocese has announced that churches may re-open for services on Sunday 12 July provided that all the protocols can be complied with. In due course, you will receive full details of what will be happening at St. Michael’s. A brief picture of what will be required: 1. E very surface that anyone could touch will have to be sanitized with an approved sanitizer. 2. Safe distancing at all acts of worship will have to be strictly observed.... 3. Gatherings may not exceed 50 persons. 4. No congregational singing will be permitted. 6. Communion will be in one kind only wafer with no common cup. 6. Hand sanitizer must be used upon entry to the building. 7. everyone attending will have to sign in with a means of contact. This is for tracing purposes should it be necessary. The Wardens and I have met and are confident that we will be able to be fully compliant with all protocols. Our plan and facility will have to be approved by the Archdeacon. With the safe-distancing restrictions, the maximum we will be able to accommodate in the church will be 25 30. In the hall we could accommodate 40. Our proposal at this stage is to open on Sunday 12 July with the service in the hall. Md-week services will resume on Wednesday 15 July Because numbers will be restricted to no more than 50, it is important that we have some idea of the number who would consider coming to services when we are able to re-open. Would you please assist us in the planning by letting us know whether or not you would attend when the time comes and whether you would plan on a Sunday or a Wednesday? Now to other matters: The Electoral Synod for the choices of a new Bishop for the Diocese will be done electronically on 26 September. Iris Jones has resumed responsibility for the Prayer Chain and she may be contacted with requests at [email protected] or by telephone at 250-246-8151. Am most grateful to Iris for once again assuming responsibility for this. I am equally grateful to Charles Van Gorkom for having taken care of it for the last number of months. Laurel Borisenko has now got her travel date and will be flying to Geneva to take up her new position with the UNHCR. Please pray for her in all her new responsibilities and in all that she has to do before she leaves. Tom Lavender has been transferred to the Rehab section of the Nanaimo hospital. Please pray for his continuing progress and also for Mabel . It is very difficult for them as Mabel is not permitted to visit him yet. Please pray for Don Ward who has been admitted to hospital. He too, may not be visited so please pray for Bess and Sophie. Please let me know if there are any folk needing help that I may be unaware of. Please also be sure to let us know if you envisage attending worship on Sunday 12 July. With every blessing as ever, Michael
