We often hear about how many of us grew up wanting to be horse vets but somewhere along the line opted out of it. To help everyone understand what it takes to ...be an Equine Vet we have created a list of requirements from the trenches: 1. You must be able to find fashion happiness in a closet full of khakis, polos and vests (preferably all easily washable) 2. You must have sufficient self confidence to accept the routine parting words, "Hope we don't see you for a year!" 3. You must be able to not only survive but thrive while covered in a collection of bodily fluids and stains of unknown origin. 4. You should understand that the many ways a horse can cut, poke and otherwise injure its body are in fact truly fascinating! 5. You should have a strong stomach for all the extensive interaction with the crazy horse person in all of us! (Bonus points for routinely grocery shopping in breeches - you fit right in!) 6. You must be able to slog through countless years of higher education and still be happy to enter into a career where going for more education is typically viewed as "vacation time." 7. You should at a minimum tolerate complete obliteration of work-life balance as you work a full day, arrive home only to be called out for multiple additional hours of work overnight then get up again in the morning for another fulfilling day of work! 8. Finally, of course you have to have a deep love of horses with all the good, bad and crazy that this brings!

Diego was helping the next generation learn to bandage. He inspected each wrap carefully, and made his opinions known.
